Bewilderwood Questions And Answers!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

Over the Easter holidays we visited one of our favourite places for children, Bewilderwood. I have written about it loads on the blog and will do so again I’m sure because it really is one of the best days out for children! After this most recentl visit I thought I would pop up some answers to questions I think people might have about visiting! I thought it might be helpful as before we visited for the first time we had no idea what it was all about and even turned down a trip thinking Florence would be too little when she was about 18 months old! She totally wouldn’t have been!

So… On with the questions!

What age is Bewilderwood best for? They have lots of different areas including two Toddlewood sites especially for little ones. My Mum has been on the zip wires and she’s just turned 65 and at around 20 months old Florence climbed (with me) high into the trees on the tree top walk ways. I’d say from around 18 months to 12 years would be the optimum age!

Is it expensive to get into Bewilderwood? No, It really isn’t. If you are under 92cm then you go for FREE and there are different prices for younger children to adults and over 65’s! The most expensive ticket and the most peak time of the year is currently £14.50 for an adult. The annual passes are absolutely exceptional value!

Is Bewilderwood expensive once inside? There is nothing extra to pay for once inside apart from face painting which is occasionally on offer. You are very welcome to bring a picnic and there are ample [laces with and without cover to eat them. The food and drinks are a little prices with a cup of tea costing £2.50 but the food looks and smells delicious. I’ve been told it is very good quality. I like the fact that the shop is inexpensive at the end, not filled with utter tat and can easily be avoided altogether if you rather.

What’s Bewilderwood all about? Bewilderwood is based on books by Tom Blofeld who also owns the park and the characters from the books including Mildred the Crocklebog and the Boggles and Twiggles, who live in the trees, are what inspired the park. Apparently he wrote the stories sitting in the marshes! The park is full of tree top walk ways, zip wires (including ones for tiny tots with special seats), a maze, play equipment and amazing slides!

Is Bewilderwood suitable for disabled access? Mainly yes. It really would depend on your needs but the majority of the park would be wheel chair friendly. They even have disabled friendly play equipment and I’ve seen lots of children with disabilities having fun on my visits!

Is it buggy friendly at Bewilderwood? Yes, I have always taken a buggy and had no problems getting about.

What else is there to do at Bewilderwood? There’s plenty to fill up a whole day including story times, Twiggle twirling and even a big area for den building.

Is Bewilderwood ok on a rainy day? It is a lot lovelier when the sun shines but we have been on rainy days and with all the trees it’s quite sheltered and also atmospheric.

What’s the best bit of Bewilderwood? There’s so much I could talk about here but honestly the best bit for us is seeing all the tiny attention to detail like fairy houses in the trees. It creates a bit of magic! There is also a boat ride not to be missed!

Is it worth buying an annual pass to Bewilderwood? I’d go ALL the time so for us it would be yes but you can try before you buy if you like and then at the end of the day make your mind up without losing any money. They will upgrade your day pass to an annual pass there and then!

Is it worth travelling to Bewilderwood? Absolutely! We are lucky and my Mum lives in Norwich which is close to where Bewilderwood is based between Horning and Hoveton. You can even get the bus from Norwich to Wroxham and then onto the park. In a car I’d say it would take about 3 hours from London and it would absolutely be worth it!

When is Bewilderwood open? From February half term till the end of October.

What should you wear to Bewilderwood? Trousers and tops that won’t fly up when on the slide giving friction burns, wellies in wet weather, old trainers in the summer and nothing you care about getting muddy!

Can adults climb on everything and go on the equipment at Bewilderwood? Well I have. And my Mum has. And Jonny has. So I’m gonna say yes!

When’s the best time to visit Bewilderwood? We’ve been on cold wet day swith hardly anyone else there (as per our recent visit) and on sunny days in the holidays. There’s never a queue for anything on busy days and quieter times don’t make it feel sad. I think the best time to visit is any time!

Well… They’re the questions I think I would have found helpful prior to my first visit. If you have any more then please leave me a comment and Ill be happy to reply with an answer as best I can! For now, to tempt you even more, take a look at our recent trip in the video below!
