Hello Bento!

I love seeing all the amazing pictures of children’s bento boxes that some bloggers seem to whip up daily and I always feel inspired to give it a go. Until now I’ve merely dabbled with the odd cut out shaped sandwich and a few grapes on a stick but today I felt prompted to really go all out and produce a proper bento box for lunch.

One problem I thought! I don’t actually own any bento stuff, no picks or special boxes… Turns out that’s actually no problem though because upon a scavenge (after Jimmy’s birthday party this weekend admittedly I had more bits than usual) I found plenty I could use. Cocktail sticks are but a pick by another name no? I had regular, umbrellas and paper hearts! Get in! I also have quite a few star shaped cutters and with space, ‘blast off’, rockets and aliens being Jimmy’s wont right now I decided to make that my theme!

So… Here’s my first proper bento box (Florence is going to flip out when she comes home from nursery) and it only took me twenty minutes! Yes, so not even a faff! Coupled with that I had left over potato which I have pre-mashed before tonight’s mad dash of one hour to get home, eat and get out again between ballet and Girl’s Brigade! TOUCH! I am thrifty (could have binned the excess couldn’t I) and organised. These are not terms generally used around me!

Hope you like it!
