CHRISTMAS TREE COOKIES (Asda’s ‘Extra Special’ All-Butter Christmas Trees)

To Decorate:

2 x 100g bar Extra Special dark chocolate, melted

50g chopped hazelnut pieces

50g chopped almond pieces

  1. Break the chocolate up into squares and place in a small heatproof bowl.
  2. Half fill a small saucepan with water and heat until it simmers. Turn off the heat, then place the heatproof bowl containing the chopped chocolate, over but not touching the water. Stir occasionally until the chocolate has melted.
  3. To decorate the cookies dip the top half of, or one side of the biscuit into the melted chocolate place on a sheet of oiled baking parchment and quickly sprinkle the melted chocolate with the chopped nuts, leave to cool.
  4. Place a few of the cookies in a clear cellophane presentation bag and secure with some Christmas ribbon. The decorated biscuits make a nice gift or Christmas tree favor.

HINTS AND TIPS

You can also use melted white and milk chocolate to decorate these cookies.

For an edible Christmas tree treat, thread a piece of cotton though uppermost hole of the cookie and hang on your Christmas tree.
