You’ve Gotta Love Little Charley Bear!

We saw the darlingest little show at the weekend and it was all about the famous ‘Little Charley Bear’!

Little Charley Bear and his Christmas Adventure – Live on Stage is playing at the Ambassador’s Theatre in London’s West End from now until Christmas Eve and it’s so sparklingly Christmassy good that it’s not to be missed! Who doesn’t like Little Charley bear eh?He’s so gentle and the escapades he gets up to are entertaining, educational and super polite! This is a show on television which is loved by babies as young as Jimmy right up to little school girls and boys! There’s something to capture the eye of most CBeebies fans and they all seem to sit quietly and enjoy the show on the box. I have to say the theatre experience is so similar but obviously with that little bit higher end of excitement! The pace is still gentle, Charley Bear is still ever so delightfully entertaining and the live show follows a similar format. There is nothing intimidating or scary about watching this at the theatre, I know some children do get nervous (not mine actually), but I don’t for a minute think they would find this one over bearing or too much. It all felt a bit like a warm hug and we smiled, clapped and sang along from beginning to end!

There’s a lot of audience participation but not in a frantic sort of way at all, this is just ‘get on your feet and join in time’ – Mums and Dads included and Florence loved learning to dance like Bellarina, shutting her eyes to ‘imagine a forest’ and moving like a robot! I honestly think I would take Jimmy to this one even if he didn’t have an older sister as there is lots to see and engage him as Charley Bear takes us on a journey to find Father Christmas. Charley”s worried because he doesn’t have a chimney you see and needs to ask father Christmas if he will still come to him… It’s a lovely little tale and helped along by two really diligent and entertaining companions. I thought it might lack without the voice of the inimitable James Cordon but while we were watching it didn’t even cross my mind once. This is a festive affair so you have to hurry and get your tickets in before Christmas as it finishes the day before like I mentioned above and is getting sold out pretty quickly. At just £5 a ticket for the cheapest seat and £15 for the most expensive it’s an absolute steal! Most children’s shows are double the dollar at least and this one certainly isn’t of any lesser quality! At just under an hour running time it’s the perfect length for the whole family!

Why will the little ones like it? Well, it has everything from the TV show that they are familiar with but bag loads more and a delightful Christmas quest of a story which will get them just in the mood for Christmas!

Why will us parents enjoy it? Honestly, watching all those smiling faces and joining in with the songs as they do will just fill your heart! The fact your wallet is still going to be full afterwards is a major bonus!

There’s also a lovely surprise at the very end which I will keep under my hat but say you’re all going to enjoy very, very much!

A lovely show, a lovely price and some lovely happy children at the end of it! Great fun!
