(Cries) ‘Ohyo, Ohyo, New (Collapsable) ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY Cup On The Block!’

As I’ve spoken about before, space is of a great premium in my house and none more so than in my tiny kitchen! The person who designed it was an absolute moron and we only have one drawer! ONE! And it’s a half width one at that… The cupboard space wasn’t much better thought out either… So, bottom line is that we have to think of genius things to maximise what little space there is! My husband has done a fab job with cutlery storage on the walls, extending the kitchen out into the hallway (you’d have to see it I guess) and lots of other clever thinking touches but there’s not a lot we can do about what’s inside the cupboards… I mean, it’s not like I can reduce the sizes of mugs (without having an unsatisfactory sized cup of tea) or make the casserole dish minimise until we need it (it is full of other kitchen bits though)! And one of our cupboards is entirely taken up with all the plastic pots, drinks cups, bottles, spoons, bowls and plates little ones need! I’m forever replacing Florence’s cups as she nibbles through the silicon straws so quickly and I’m always searching for the cup which will take up the least space but still be big enough to provide an adequate drink… Guess what, think I might just have found it! Tra la la la la!

The Ohyo Water Bottle is an utterly brilliant design, I could see that from the pictures. A cup which consatinas down and becomes small enough to fit in your pocket (or inside a mug in the cupboard for me); Could this work? I mean obviously it folds down but what about when it’s up and in use? Is it leak proof? Is it easy for little fingers to use? Is it toddler proof?? Urrrr, the answer is actually a big fat YES!

So, how does it work?

Well it’s pretty simple really! It goes up and it goes down!

And the lid screws on and off so that you can fill it with water or juice or whatever…

How simple is that and what a great idea! Guy Jeremiah and environmental scientist from Sheffield came up with it after witnessing first-hand the environmental damage caused by bottled water and Ohyo heavily support the Find-a-Fountain campaign which encourages people to drink more water from fountains and taps and hopes to increase the number of FREE water sources and make them easier to find! We need to stop plastic from bottled water clogging up the environment and this is a superb idea! If everyone had an Ohyo bottle they could keep it in their bag just like they do with their fold-away bags! I love this!

I also think they’re a pretty good idea for little ones! Florence can easily use the sports spout which has to be fully clicked up to drink from and when is fully pressed down ensures absolutely no leaks! (I’ve shaken it upside down when full and I can vouch for it’s leak proof-ability!) The spout is also quite hard and although it may get teeth marks I think she’ll find it pretty hard to bite right through it!

It fits in normal sized cup holders too!

I honestly can’t fault it! A good philosophy and an extremely good product – can’t get much better than that now can you! I don’t know about anyone else but cups and things are always being lost or forgotten and if I have one of these folded up in my bag then instead of buying expensive toddler cap friendly drinks when I’m out I could fill this one up, even from a water fountain!

They come in packs of two too and you can choose from four different colours! We got pink and blue and I’m more than happy with them, I think they are superb!

Here are my two folded up and ready for my pocket or bag! Genius!
