National Geographic Kids!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

Just over a year ago Florence’s devotion to her favourite animal, the meerkat, began when we took a trip to the London National Geographic store. We were there for an introduction to all the things the store has on offer for little ones like their wonderful magazine aimed at children and we came away, having met with their animal man, with the then new-found love for the animals which have made comparison shopping more fun, the simple(s) meerkat!

The animal man, who visits the store on the last Sunday of every month, introduced us to his collection of animals and from the moment the meerkat whispered in Florence’s ear with his nose tickling her she’s been smitten! The National Geographic store has moved to Knightsbridge now and we do keep meaning to go and visit the new store to see the lovely meerkats again, it’s definitely something on our agenda, especially as the store is just so interesting for lots of other things too!

‘National Geographic Kids’ really go all out to interest the little ones and they do it in such an effective and interesting way that even Florence at just under two was thoroughly enthralled! Recently they held their annual international photography competition for the kids which saw thousands of entries from across the globe. Three out of four categories were actually won by children in the UK and the star prize, a trip to Washington DC with a special tour of the National Geographic headquarters was won by eleven year old Isabella Barbaro from London for her stunning entry ‘Dancing In Water’ (below). How amazing is that!
