Tiny Love Discovery Playmat – A Review!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

When Florence was about three months old I was introduced to ‘Tiny Love‘ toys while out one day. Florence played on one of their play gyms and we loved it so much that we immediately changed the boring and colourless one we had at home for an exciting and vibrant ‘Tiny Love’ one instead. I saw the difference in her play and could see how interested in it she was, unlike the one we’d had before which she was obviously bored of. I love the way ‘Tiny Love’ gyms pop up in each corner to build little protective walls and then when they’re a bit bigger you can put the walls down making it a slightly bigger space. After that the arches can be removed and the base becomes a play mat on it’s own so there’s many months of fun to be had with one not to mention all the colours, toys and textures as well as sounds and lights.

When Jimmy was born I was delighted to have been sent another one of their superb gyms to review and he had just as much enjoyment from his as Florence did with hers. She had the ‘Kick and Play‘ (which I have to say is my favourite) and Jimmy got to play with the brilliant ‘Move and Play‘ from the same ‘Gymini’ range. We only just put the mat away at Christmas time and that was only because we were making room for another ‘Tiny Love’ mat, he could quite easily have continued playing with his ‘Gymini Move and Play’ for a good few months because with the arches removed it s a superb play mat which is still a really lovely thing to have when so little rather than playing directly on the floor.

But, as I said, we were making way for something new, something which I actually reviewed a while ago before he was born but felt I had to give another thumbs up on my blog now we are using it daily. The ‘Tiny Love Discovery Playmat  is an absolute hit with not just Jimmy but Florence too and we have it on the floor most of the day. Just like the traditional gyms with arches it is suitable from birth but because we are in the lucky position to have been asked to review both products, lucky old us got to choose to have arches in the beginning with his play gym and then this giant play mat for now. This mat really is a great space for babies on the move as it covers a large area and has lots of things to play with which a crawler will appreciate.

Both children enjoy sitting on the mat. It’s comfortable so even if they are not playing WITH the mat they like to sit on it and play with other things too.

It has some really great features with all the different types of material, crinkly pieces, corduroy patches and the like. I think Jimmy really enjoys it when I fill the four pockets up with other toys. If Florence is out at nursery I will set the mat up for him with lots of surprises to find in them and he has great fun. Just wooden spoons, little shaker toys and the like but the element of taking them out of pockets or finding them from behind the  doors is exciting for him. There are lots of loops and areas that toys can be attached to and I have kept all of the ‘Tiny Love Smarts‘ which came with his ‘Gymini Bouncer‘ and play mat to attach to this too. The gym and bouncer have gone in the loft but he can still get so much enjoyment from the ‘Smarts’ (hanging toys) and as they fit on this mat too it seemed like a great idea. You can even buy new ‘Smarts’ for a bit of a change or just to add to the collection.

The surface is also wipe clean which is excellent and it folds up as any blanket would do (although it’s thicker and softer than a blanket) and with the two carry handles can be easily transported so we take it with us when we go and stay at my Mum’s. Because it folds up we just store it on top of the toy box after the children go to bed which is really easy. Jimmy has great fun on the mat and as with all ‘Tiny Love’ toys it has their signature colours and patterns which makes them so exciting for little eyes.

I have not been paid to write this post but I was sent a ‘Discovery Playmat’ for the purpose of this review.
