Is Your Baby Born Free?!

We get sent a lot of cups to review in the Rocknrollerbaby household and can really only write about the ones we like lots. I might have to offer to send some back to PR companies at times because there isn’t anything very specific to be said about them? Often they’re not totally rubbish but what’s the point in writing a whole blog post to say ‘this cup is adequate and does the job it’s intended with slight leakage’? I don’t want my blog to be plastered with boring posts like that so I try to save it for products we really, really like.

So, you know when I post about a cup that it really is worth posting about and this range of cups we’ve been trying recently is probably a little nicer than most if I’m honest. Born Free produce quality feeding products for babies and toddlers that are free from BPA, Phthalates and PVC, a first for the feeding market!

They have a patented ActiveFlow Venting Technology which is said to reduce air pressure and vacuum build up in the bottle to reduce symptoms of colic and gas pain. Their bottles also allow the baby to control the milk flow so creating a calmer feeding experience just like with breast feeding. We haven’t tried out their baby bottles but instead have been using  a training drinking cup for Jimmy while Florence has been using a straw cup, both from their toddler range; we’re certainly impressed with these!

The 7oz Training Cup Jimmy has been trying is designed for babies from 6 months. They have a low vacuum valve to allow free flow but an inner valve and air vent means they don’t have to suck very hard at all. Shaking the cup upside down quite violently only produces a few tiny droplets so I feel quite confident about giving the cup to Jimmy as he toddles round and I think he likes it for a few reasons other than it’s leak-less qualities!

Jimmy really likes a handle to hold on to. It means he can feed himself one handed freeing the other for mischief. I think it gives him greater control over drinking and we like the fact there is a handle either side. I think he also appreciates the texture of the teat. It’s soft and similar in texture to a baby bottle yet the spout is the same shape as a more grown up cup. It also has a handy lid which clicks on and can only be removed by me – great for in the bag!

Florence likes a straw cup in general and this one is a bit impressive just to look at so she was keen instantly. You twist the lid and the silicon straw pops up and then it can be twisted back down again when not drinking ensuring it’s kept clean. Florence struggled to do this at first but after a few attempts had got the hang of it.Just as with Jimmy’s cup, there is only minor spillage when shaking the cup upside down violently so this bodes well for children in my opinion. These ones are suitable for children over 12 months.

I like both the cups, they’re both easy to hold and store and from my perspective they’re great because they hold a good volume of drink, 7floz in Jimmy’s cup and more for Florence.

I like the ethics of this company and we like their drinking cups very much!

I have not been paid to write this post but I was sent the two cups mentioned for the purpose of review.
