Florence is a new but MASSIVE fan of Doc McStuffins. It took her all of about 5 minutes to fall in love with the programme which has, shock horror, taken over from Peppa Pig even! I guess it was bound to happen at some point and she does still like Peppa but she’s growing up so something like Doc McStuffins had to be on the cards soon!

When I first watched it with her I wasn’t that keen and Jonny said immediately that he wished she would go back to Peppa. He’d said the same thing when Peppa took over in her affections from In The Night Garden though and I think it’s a not wanting her to grow up too fast sort of thing for him…

It immediately hit me as American accented (which i find grating at times on cartoons) and not very good but I didn’t really give it a a chance and then suddenly, without realising, I was singing the songs out loud myself! I’d be saying to Florence ‘What’s that song from, it’s in my head but where did it come from’ and she’d say ‘Doc McStiffins Mummy!’ I soon realised that if the songs were getting in even my own head then they must be quite good and catchy so thought I’d better watch the show properly.

As soon as I did I could understand why Florence likes it so much, it’s very musical and along with the theme tune and the ‘Time For Your Check Up’ song other songs are in each episode too; no wonder my music loving daughter is so keen. They are of course very catchy and easy to remember with great little beats behind them! When I was asked if I’d like to review the new accompanying CD I jumped at the chance! I like the songs myself as I mentioned and won’t mind singing along to them in the car and Florence, I knew, would absolutely LOVE it!

The songs on the CD are exactly the same as in the programme and I immediately scanned the list for some of our favourites. They were all there and with 26 tracks we found loads more we like too! A great CD and bound to be just as much of a hit as the programme. I don’t even mind the accents so much now I like the songs!

Florence has an iPod shuffle that I didn’t want and Jonny is going to put the CD on it for her for our holiday so as well as listening to it in the car she can listen to it on the plane and anywhere she likes!
