#BeeInTheCity – Fenchurch Street Station!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

I think it’s always exciting when you get a station in a game of Monopoly and I was trilled to take my life sized game to Fenchurch Street station this week!

Jimmy and I went on a little day trip just us while Florence was at nursery and we took our Bugaboo Bee up into the heart of the City! My boy is a real BOY and loves nothing more than being on the tube and trains. He choo choooooos every time another train passes us an frankly this could easily be a happy day out on its own as far as he’s concerned! With this in mind I wanted to take him on the tube, over ground AND the DLR – what treat (mothers of boys will understand)!

Pretending to drive the DLR!

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, the DLR is a fantastic service for those of us using wheels! It has lifts at all the stations for a start and the gap between platform and train is always very small and most importantly, on the same level! It’s quite literally a dream travelling on this system with a buggy and if you have a Bugaboo Bee then you get an extra special treat because the Bee is small enough to push down the narrow aisle and slot in the very middle section at the very front of the train! A baby simply can’t get any closer to train driving than thins and for those of you worrying about other people getting in and out of the seats, don’t! It still leaves ample room either side! Jimmy thinks this is just fabulous!

We took the DLR to Tower Gateway where we got off via lift and went for a little walk across the bridge! Could we BEE anymore in the City than this?

City walk over and it was time to get some squares! Well one at least! I know this area really well and although on the tube map to a visitor it might look like place are very far away from each other in the City, they’re actually all very close. I thoroughly recommend just walking around London instead of getting on and off the tube. You see more and it’s very often quicker! I used to work near this area so from Tower Bridge I decided to walk back to Liverpool Street station where we could get the overground without using any steps and get off and straight back on to the Central Line East on the opposite side of the platform. No stairs anywhere, fulfilling the train and tube part of our journey and no fuss!

On the way to Liverpool Street (which we already have in our Monopoly bank) we picked up Fenchurch Street station as it’s just around the corner! This is actually exactly where I used to work and although the thought of coming here every day makes me shudder (I was not a happy office bod) it’s a most excellent place to view the Gherkin from! If you’re after a cool little walk around the City this is a great place to start!

Us at Fenchurch Street Station!

I simply love being in London with my Bee, it pushes through the streets like a dream, never gets in the way for the throngs of city workers too busy (or miserable) to even smile and is light enough for me to lift up and down steps (when we come across them) on my own! I also never tire of our Happy Bugs Warhol canopy, well look at it, it’s super cool, who would?
