It’s A Gruffalo Puzzle!

We love The Gruffalo!

We’re lucky and live close to Thorndon Country Park where we get to go on the Gruffalo trail and find him (and his pals from the book) in the woods from time to time and somewhere along the line Jimmy has become the biggest fan of all of us!

My best friend bought him a Gruffalo hat for Christmas and he wears it ALL the time. Even in the house. He constantly asks for his ‘Grulo hat’ and even puts it on himself which is very sweet and also very good because prior to having it and I’d say it was a bit of a job to get him to wear a hat at all!

Jimmy loves his Gruffalo hat, or Grulo hat as he calls it!

I was asked if he would like to review a Gruffalo ‘My First Puzzles’ collection by Ravensburger and because Jimmy has also just got into puzzles (as well as the Gruffalo) it was the perfect offer!

The collection of four puzzles is designed for children over 18 months and because one is made up of two pieces, one of three, four and five, it means the child can get better and better at putting puzzles together!

Jimmy got stuck in straight away with the two piece puzzle of the Gruffalo himself and seemed very pleased with himself to have completed it very quickly. He took it apart and did it again right away before moving on to the three piece puzzle of the snake with his sister’s help.

Florence helped Jimmy with the more complex puzzles but he did the Gruffalo one all on his own!

Florence did the four piece puzzle and then the five but it took her a couple of minutes and definitely was entertaining for her so the set obviously has longevity!

They both had fun together with this one and have asked to have it out again every day since so I know they both like it.

They both seemed to enjoy doing these puzzles using the characters from a book we know well!

The puzzle pieces are more grown up and traditional than the chunky wooden pieces Jimmy has been used to and I think he was thrilled to get something a little bit more complex. It was well within his capabilities for the smaller two puzzles, although still fun to do and with the bigger two he has something to do with his sister and grow into.

A great little set!

I was sent the puzzle set for the purpose of an honest review.

  1. Chlo is utterly obsessed with The Gruffalo just now and knows both books almost word for word!
I’ll have to keep my eye out for the jigsaws – she’d love them.
