Christmas Gifts For The Whole Family!
Recently I was invited to the Christmas in July festival to find out about what’s hot for Christmas 2022! What I took away from the experience this year is that while we are all wanting to be incredibly frugal this year, want and need being the same thing in this instance, we do still want to treat our friends and family. So… What are we looking at for the hot Christmas shopping list for this coming Yule?
Well… When it comes to gifting our parents and the grandparents we are wanting thoughtful presents which, while not necessarily cheap, are meaningful and built to last. The Tartan Blanket Company, who make, of course, gorgeous blankets, have a collection of the most beautiful scarves which would make an ideal Christmas present and I am lucky enough to be able to offer my readers a hefty 15% discount (off EVERYTHING including gift boxes) until the 10th of October! Use ROCKNROLLER15 at the checkout until the 9th of October 2022!
What about the littlest members? Well… Hot to trot for Christmas ’22 is going to be a throw back to the Tamagotchis of my own youth. You can choose from the mega new style ones to the originals and I have to say it’s those generation 1s which have my vote. ALL the kiddos of school age will LOVE a Tamagotchi in their pocket!
Games wise and we always play a board game in our house, this year it will be Spontuneous, a race against a clock with your warbling singing voice (no talent required) to get you to the winning post! We also love, love, LOVE the Big Potato Games with Shoot For The Stars, Sounds Fishy and Chicken Vs Hotdog on the agenda for Christmas Day. The latter will hopefully stop my ten year old from throwing bottles trying to land them and will give much hilarity when Gram joins in!
When it comes to gifting my husband I’ll be buying something awfully practical, but no less well received, in the form of a new toothbrush (the new SURI ones are SO cool and super eco friendly while their battery life lasts and lasts so you never have to worry about running out) and new Remington clippers because… Well, he needs them and having seen the Remington display at the show I couldn’t be more sure that this is the brand for us with its affordability and clever technology! Florence also will be getting that hairdryer she so longs for with a diffuser to create her big style hair that she so loves! She loves feeling like she’s just stepped out of a salon and Remington tools will give her this feeling without the price tag!
We will be asking for an experience like is easy to make a purchase from with Red Letter Days, my word they take the hassle out of buying and choosing but the gift is an experience for a family to make memories with. A large family like mine has a lot of THINGS already so the opportunity to memory make instead is very welcome and this is a gift which can be for a whole family and not just one individual. TICK!
Raffie is all about the scooters at the moment so he’s going to get one for his birthday, but if he wasn’t then that’s what I’d be buying for him, a new school starter, for Christmas. Healthy because it promotes being active, a way to quickly get to school and boy is he keen so it’s a winning choice all round!
For Jimmy we’re going Geomags and anything scientific to keep his inquisitive mind active. He loves Geomags and this set Mechanics Challenge Strike is JUST up his street! I always remember him being at a press event at the top of the BT Tower with face painters and entertainers everywhere but he wasn’t interested in anything but watching the mechanics of how the tower spun. He lay down on the floor to get a better look and so engineering in a game format is just the ticket for Jimmy, that and football kits of course!
For friends I shall be buying small from my friend Katy Earley who makes candles with her business Earley and Daughters. She really knows her stuff and has great candle advice when purchasing so that you don’t waste a single second of burning time. I didn’t know that you have to burn your candle the first time for a few hours to ensure it doesn’t just burn straight down the middle – I do now and her gorgeous scents are just the perfect gift for my other friends who deserve a decadent treat!
The baby… Hmmm, in a way she is most hard to buy for because like I mentioned, we have so many hand me downs but things which don’t tend to last for years (in our house) are bath toys so for her it will be TOMY Peppa Pig bath fun!
We will drink Kingsland wines and make cocktails using The Emissary prosecco in rose and white (I tried them at the show and they were GORGEOUS! The smoothest and most delicious bubbles which are perfect for celebrations. We will eat staple family fodder with tried and tested recipes and naturally there will be lots and lots of chocolate.
There is one family member I’m missing out of this family Christmas isn’t there… What about man’s best friend? We can’t forget Christmas gifts for dogs now can we and Yappy have everything you can think of to make your pooch happy on the 25th of December!
