In typical boy mode Jimmy is the sort of lad who runs around with his coat out of the arms and the hood on his head pretending to be a super hero. He is captured by all things ‘boy’ like that and fascinatd by all of the things the big boys like to play with. From Lego rather than Duplo even though the pieces are really too small and difficult for him to do on his own, to the things he watches on TV, he wants to be a big boy and he enjoys revelling in the sorts of things they like.
The thing is, with some of these toys he wants, like the little pieces of Lego and other intricate pieces of track for example, he’s just a little too young to do it on his own. I can’t tell you the number of things I have to build for him over and over because he loves them but isn’t quite gentle enough to play with them properly. And this is why we’ve always thought the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and their younger range of ‘Half Shell Heroes’ are fantastic. Basically, they’re bog boy toys, just like the more grown up range, but they’re geared up for smaller hands and Jimmy, in true super hero little boy mode, is totally enamoured with them!
He’s had a few figures for ages now and he loves to play with them making up superhero stories and pretending to feed them pizza. He’s not seen the films as I think they’re a little old for him and maybe a touch too scary, but he somehow just knows all about them anyway! Typical boy! And now he’s been sent a couple of pieces from the new range, he thinks they’re brilliant!
Ninjas (big or small!) should prepare for battle as more is in store for fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with the launch of GP Flair’s 2016 collection of figures, vehicles and playsets across its movie, cartoon animation and Half-Shell Heroes collections. The two dinos we were sent came each with a Turtle figure and a saddle for them to ride their dinos!
The Turtles and Dino themee follows an upcoming TV special that aired on the 31st January on Nick Toons; The foursome, along with baddies Shredder, Beebop and Rocksteady, travel back in time to the prehistoric age where they encounter dinosaurs. And these new products made available for spring are the T-Rex and Donnie playset that includes an exclusive Donnie figure and T-Rex that sweeps up enemies with his moveable jaw. If that’s not enough to be excited about , never fear as new waves of pre-school action figures are introduced in autumn alongside an amazing Half-Shell Heroes Sewer Adventure Ralph Playset that stands over 26” tall! With over 20 different features, this cool playset opens up to reveal multiple play areas to help defeat the evil Shredder!
Jimmy loves them both but seems to prefer the Donnie with his moveable wings! That’s not to say he doesn’t enjoy the T-Rex with his opening and closing jaw as he absolutely does and has been snapping us all over the place!
He’s very pleased indeed with the toys and it’s easy to see why. They are JUST up his street and have the right amount of Turtle detail to make him happy but are not so intricate that he can’t play with them on his own. We think the Half Shell Hero range for younger fans is a fantastic idea and more toys should have a mid-age range like this for little ones who like all the stuff bigger ones do but just aren’t quite there yet!
We’ll definitely be keeping our eyes on this range and I’m sure will be adding to our collection very soon!
We were sent the toys in the post for the purpose of an honest review.
