A few weeks ago I was invited to a new restaurant near Paddington in central London called Kupp. Scandanavian style food in a really exciting new development just a short walk from Edgware tube station, right on the canal and offering anything from that all important meal at the start of the day accompanied by aromatic coffees right through to cocktails by night and a menu which can offer a light graze or a full meal.
Unfortunately I wasn’t available to attend the breakfast but they very kindly invited me with a pal to try out Kupp one evening and I am SO glad I did. I took my good friend Adriana and we feasted on their extensive menu washed down with Frozen Lingonberry Daiquiris. A perfect evening.
When I arrived at the absolutely thronging venue I had some time to wait for a friend but sitting at my table by the window I didn’t feel out of place at all. I’m not saying I’m a massive hipster, far from it, but even though the place was a buzz with fashionable looking twenty and thirty somethings (and I am a Mummy who is usually in bed by 10) I felt very welcomed and just comfortable in the surroundings which are super interesting. The decor is a mixture of clean and retro which I loved and the seating is as comfy as being in your best pals kitchen. I noticed lots of wooden high chairs and I can just see this place by day would be perfect for the Mummaratti! The music playing was also a mismatch of eras and I enjoyed listening to Diana Ross singing my favourite song of all time (‘You Can’t Hurry Love’) followed by Bruno Mars and this style kept up all night.
Despite the buzz Adriana and I didn’t notice anything to stop us chatting away all evening and could hear each other perfectly. We chatted, we ate, we chatted some more and we were the last people in the place before they closed. Now THAT’S a great night out.
But… What about the food?
Well, it was delicious and the only problem was making decisions. Luckily our waiter Ahmed, who was so kind, was able to help us with recommendations and he didn’t let us down at all! Here’s what we ate!
We loved Kupp and found it to be the perfect venue for chatting and eating and of course… Drinking!
