I don’t know about anyone else but I know I spend a lot of time, when I’m just about ready to go out, searching for socks! The children just never seem to have them on and when we want to get shoes on I find myself shouting ‘WHERE ARE THE SOCKS, FIND THE SOCKS’!
Often we have to abandon sock search and get a new pair out. This means one or two socks are permanently missing as they don’t get washed at the same time as each other or put back into the drawer together. Sometimes I think about abandoning sock worry and just letting them wear odd ones but that annoys me more as I need symmetry – It’s just one of my things!
I don’t know how or why but children just don’t manage to keep their socks on. If it were me and I felt them slipping I would pull them up, I wouldn’t want cold feet for one thing but the children seem to not care as the socks slip off and they just carry on running or whatever leaving sockage in their trails! Fair enough for the baby I suppose and when he was tiny we had these little sock over thingies which kept them on but they weren’t comfortable so now he just has to lose them as he goes about his play. For Florence I have no idea why it doesn’t bother her enough to put them back on again but it doesn’t? She just lets them come off and leaves them wherever they fall. Wherever that is we usually don’t find when we need!
So the problem is twofold really! Sock searching resulting in often no result on time and cold feet. It REALLY annoys me!
I was asked if I’d like to try a new pair of socks with a special silicon lining in the cuffs which would keep them on. I was a little dubious as I have had socks that are meant to stay on before and they haven’t worked but actually… As it goes… These ones do seem to work!
They’re made by Little Grippers and the stay on technology, the silicon in the cuffs, is 100% natural, hypoallergenic and breathable preventing any irritation to the skin. It’s a very thin layer which isn’t even sewn on but apparently will last the lifetime of the socks. They can be washed and tumble dried and the silicon will renew itse;f after every wash so that it doesn’t lose it’s effectiveness.
Sounds good doesn’t it! Well obviously I’ve not had them for long but I have washed them a few times and can see no change in the material. They seem to work just as well too. I would say that they do stay on for the most part. Certainly walking and crawling around doesn’t make them fall off and I’m pretty sure that unless the child physically takes them off (mine do that sometimes) that they would stay on.
Very impressed actually and they don’t just come in boring baby blue and pinks but happy patterns in bold colours which is much more suitable for an older child. The baby range goes from newborn up to age 2-3 (sizes 6-8.5) and then they have older ranges too including school socks (below and above the knee versions) in a range of school colours. There is also sports socks, cosy towelling socks and welly socks in the pipeline for this winter – wellingtons are very cold I always find so a good sock is a must.
Prices start from £3.50 which isn’t bad really, I’m sure I buy lots of socks due to the Bermuda Triangle in my house where they all go missing so to pay a little extra and not have the hassle of losing them would be preferable!

I have not been paid to write this post but I was sent two pairs of socks for the purpose of review.
