When I went to the Mothercare Spring/Summer preview for 2017 back in November I wrote about my favourite pieces from the show and of course, as always, most of them came from the Little Bird by Jools collection.
I just can’t get enough of the designs super Mum Jools Oliver comes up with and just as with every collection to date I have a list as long as my arm of all the pieces I want to dress Florence and Jimmy in when the weather gets better. The retro designs are SO up my street and remind me of my own childhood clothes which is something I talked heavily about on a live Instagram video last week. I also spoke about how ironic it is that these designs, which Jools is inspired by vintage and also hand made items from her own childhood are now inspiring me to make hand knits in her style. Like it’s come full circle…
When I knitted this little cardigan for my friend’s baby I chose a design and wool which would sit beautifully in the Little Bird collection (I think) and this is why I love the range so flipping much! It looks like the clothes not only that my Mum bought for me as a little girl but the clothes she made either by sewing or knitting too. And that, for me, is the perfect type of kid’s fashion!
But I clearly haven’t the time to make all my kid’s clothes and this is why I buy from Mothercare (actually it’s not just the Little Bird by Jools range which is of this style and taste – their in-house regular collection also has features which suit me very well). And… I have a few pieces from the Spring/Summer range which, despite the chilly skies, I have been dressing the children in this past weekend.
Yet again I’m in love with the prints, the styles and most importantly the fact they’re so flipping well made and thoughtful. Seams don’t rub, waist expanders are always in place and colours never seem to fade in these designs. Not to mention the fabric always being super soft and delicate to match the skin of little ones perfectly. Thank goodness the range now goes up to age 8 and because Florence is on the tiny side of 7 I think we’ve a good few year’s left in this brand yet! Oh… And they’re also bringing out a range of maternity wear. YES! Grown up Little Bird clothes thank you very much and I have to say… Pregnant or not I shall be wearing it! ESPECIALLY as it means Florence and I can twin!
Of course no new collection from the Little Bird range would be complete without some fun, heavily patterned pyjamas!
So… Now all I have to do is go and buy all the other amazing bits I LOVE from the collection for Spring/Summer 2017. This is the brand that I fell in love with way back when the kids were teeny tiny and I fall more and more in love with each time a new range is out.
