May Half Term 2023!
We kicked off half term with an impromptu extra day off when a water main burst in our village and the school had to close. I remember those days from when I was little, the bonus days off! I was super happy for the boys to have one of them and super happy to gain an extra day off with them myself!
With only a couple of really firm plans in the offing we headed into the bank holiday weekend with the village festival and a beach day before filling our week slowly with things we love. It was cold for most of it, terribly rude for the end of May and beginning of June and after getting numb with cold feet standing in a friend’s garden at his little boy’s birthday party I felt very narked about the weather indeed (how British). We weathered one more cold day out as a family and then threw the towel in. Cold at the beach, cold at Roarr!, cold at parties and I feel so done with the cold I was almost ready for them to go back knowing without doubt it would pick up on the sun front just as everyone had to be back at school… Of course the weekend came in with sunshine! We made the most of it with al fresco dining and enjoying a slow weekend. We don’t often get slow paced holidays or weekends so it made a change and it was good but I do so hope the summer holidays are lifted weather wise for i have LOTS of plans for then!
We loved the time off together as always, loved the TINY BIT of sunshine we did see, LOVED enjoying time with a smattering of friends and a whole heap of family. What more could we ask for?!
Here’s our best bits from the week!
