We’ve long been fans of ‘In The Night Garden’ and even thought Florence is really and truly past the stage it is aimed at she will still watch (on occasion) with Jimmy who is thoroughly into it!
Personally I think the programme is very good for lots of reasons and one of them is that it is a calming down signal for just before bed. It is gentle yet thought provoking for little minds and always with a good moral. What’s not to like?
Both the children have had toys from the range that follows the programme and Jimmy absolutely loves his sing and dance Iggle Piggle which he has had since he was tiny. He was recently sent a new one which he is pretty keen on too!
The Ninky Nonk Musical Activity Train is aimed at babies over 12 months and I wondered if it might be a little too young for him before it arrived. It has a shape sorter and lights and sounds and because of the age advertised it seemed like it might be just a baby toy. However, it really is a bit more than that and for the fairly hight price tag (on Amazon for £49.99) it absolutely does have lasting qualities!
At 2 years and three months Jimmy is delighted with the Ninky Nonk Musical Activity Train!
Jimmy likes the way he can clip it together and make it into one long Ninky Nonk train or just play with each carriage individually and he also likes the secret compartment where you can hid the haahoos! There are buttons galore, doors a plenty and the shapes which do fit into the shape sorting part (which also has a clever spinning top quality) are the characters of the show. Jimmy likes this as he feels like he is taking them on a ride when he pulls the chord it comes with.
The different elements for play!
One thing which is a little annoying is that the doors on the carriage housing the Wattigners one side and the Pontipines the other are very stiff. I think they are supposed to pop open when the button on top is pressed to make a bell sound but they don’t and I have to prize them open when wanted as they are too stiff for Jimmy to do. They are becoming looser the more we use it however so I think in time it will work and they were perhaps just tightened a little too much in the factory.
It plays the songs from the show which I don’t mind at all, they quiet and unobtrusively gently which is perfect for encouraging thoughtful play. Jimmy loves it and at 2 years and 3 months this toy is nowhere near coming to the end of his interests for play.
A good, solid toy which is large but because it breaks up, easy to store. We’re impressed!
We were sent the Ninky Nonk in return for an honest review.
