Suffolk Yurt Holidays Again!
After the most glorious weekend at the Suffolk Yurt Holidays site last year, we booked again right away to return. I couldn’t get my birthday weekend for 2023 but as luck would have it my Mother In Law’s 70th fell on a weekend when they did have full site availability so we snapped that up and booked in advance for 2024 as well!
And we’ve just got back from that second stay to celebrate my Mother in law’s special birthday having recreated the same vibe perfectly. I wasn’t worried that it wouldn’t be the same, I kind of just knew it would be because this place is really special. They rent out the holiday cottage all year round and then the 5 yurts on a seasonal basis with the option, like we have, of booking the entire place. When you do book the lot you have the opportunity to use their bell tent for an extra lot of accommodation and you can also pitch a couple of tents which meant our party could be bigger. Communally there’s a kitchen with space for every yurt and an outside eating area with a bar being the focal point alongside the huge oak tree. Jane and Paul, the owners, cleared this space for us to use with our own things and another glorious weekend ensued, helped a little by the weather!
You’d be very surprised at the affordability of this place. I think it worked out to about £320 per accommodation with £60 a night on top for the bell tent and £25 per pitch, per night for the tents! Absolutely everything you need is there from tea bags and sugar to the utensils. You just have to take towels if glamping/camping and enjoy the yurt’s decadent furnishings, futon mattresses provided in the bell and the shared facilities for all. New this year is the jungle shower so that you can bathe outside (yet privately) and alongside the cottage’s field bath tub this felt like such a spa luxury it felt rude to not get in as much as possible. Read my review from last year here and watch the videos I’ve made for Instagram to get a real feel for this place we fell in love with last year and still adore after our second trip. So much so, not only have we still got next year’s spot booked but I’ve bagsied an early spot in the diary for 2025 too when even more treats will be included like, perhaps, the swimming pond we hear a whisper of!
This place is made with love, you can see that at every turn and in return we give it a piece of our own hearts. They have thought of everything from children’s play catering for all ages and weathers to blankets and hot water bottles to ensure every comfort. It feels very easy to be there and I love the way Jane and Paul swoop in to fix, create, clean, move, make it all happen without being noticed unless you’re looking out for it. They’re great, their place is too and we love it all! See some of our photos which include our Saturday night entertainment from Ben Goble (again, he’s great and we booked him last year too) and watch my tour and our fun on my Instagram posts below!
