Florence started nursery back in January and because it’s attached to a school it runs rather like a school with qualified teachers and structured learning time. We don’t call it nursery and in fact just say ‘we’re off to school’! Florence loves it and has had such a good first couple of terms, enjoying the learning, making friends and the new format to her days. She only goes two and a half days a week but it’s really been a good thing for her and she is so fond of all the teachers. As the term has drawn to a close, we have had to find something to give Florence’s teachers as a thank you for the very first time but we didn’t have a fortune to spend so I had to be a bit creative!
I guess if Florence had just one teacher then we would have been able to splash out a bit but there are two qualified teachers and then lots of lovely TA’s and helpers so we really wanted to give them all something. The budget wouldn’t stretch to a bottle of wine for all of them so instead I made little posies of flowers and £8.28 covered the cost of all eight teachers presents! I was rather proud of the result so thought I’d share it.
We bought:
Two bunches of yellow and white Chrysanthemums from Tesco – £5
Flip flop charms and sunshine embellishments from 99p Land – £1.98
Rainbow coloured luggage labels from the Post Office – £1.30
And we re-used:
Rainbow ribbons which come on all the tags from Little Bird clothes at Mothercare!
I cut off the flowers and made eight little posies tied up with the ribbon. Then we wrote on the luggage labels ‘Thank you and happy holidays!’, attached the charms and embellishments and tied them on. Hey presto!
I often re-use the beautiful ribbons which come on the Little Bird clothes as they’re so super cute! Florence wears one in her hair sometimes and we tied lots of different ribbons and hanging decorations on to Jimmy’s chest of drawers to jazz it up after we painted it so some of the ribbons from the bags and tags have been tied on there too!
I have not been paid in any way to write this post.
