Tips to Throw a Rave
While it’s great to go to a big rave at a big venue or outdoor festival, sometimes you want to get creative with your friends. Throwing a rave of your choosing can be an exhilarating undertaking, but it’s certainly not easy. There are many things you need to pull this off correctly. Here are some tips to have a rave.
Coming Up with a Budget
Are you going to have well-known artists/DJs performing? Are they coming in from out-of-state or another country? Do you need a sponsor from a site, such as RaveWonderland?
These are questions you need to ask yourself because it could mean the difference between paying $1,000 or $10,000 for an event. When you’re just setting your brand, you may charge $10-$15 at the door. It’s better to charge less at your first event because you haven’t established yourself yet, and don’t know your audience.
Also, you need to think about the DJ, security, wristband, advertising, permit, promoter, production, and photographer fees. These are things you need to consider before you go ahead with a venue.
Getting the Venue
Do you want to throw an indoor or outdoor rave?
Maybe you want to have your event at a hotel or upscale spot with a good reputation. Also, don’t hesitate to look at venues that cater to alternative music. These are solid choices to start your search.
Also, ask for a friend’s advice. If they run clubs or promote for other venues, they can give you advice and connect you to people who may be able to host your event. Don’t forget to look into permits to hold it legally and understand the building code for the maximum number of people there.
If you have the event outside, look into getting a mass gathering permit.
The Atmosphere
You can’t have a rave party without a good sound system. Maybe the DJ has some good speakers, or the venue you rent for the evening already has them up. The bass pumping and the rich sound makes it feel like a rave.
Get some lighting for the venue. It gives it that EDM vibe that entices people to use their glowsticks or dress in LED outfits.
Of course, you need a DJ who knows how to spin for the crowd of dancers and ravers. Without a great DJ, you can’t expect people to stay long. When you have a budget, venue, and atmosphere, you’ll throw a more successful rave.
