My Top Three Things To Do This Easter With The Little Ones!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

The Easter holidays are about to be upon us and it’s always good to have some activities lined up to entertain the children so I thought I’d let you know the top three things we want to do this holiday!

1

Last year we visited Willows Farm in St Albans for their Easter Eggstravaganza and we had SO much fun! It was a lovely sunny day and we played in their sand pits, bounced on the inflatable slide and castle, held baby chicks, took a tractor ride, had fun in the extensive play grounds, met some gorgeous animals, saw a fab show, joined in with the bunny hop, went on old-fashioned fair ground rides, had an easter egg hunt… We had SUCH a fab day! We played in side when the sun went behind a cloud and ran round like lunatics when it was out! Well, I was heavily pregnant with Jimmy back then so I didn’t do SO much running around myself although I did bounce down the giant inflatable slide when I had to go up and rescue a scared to come down on her own Florence! I remember that day so well because it was just so exciting. We went back to Willows at Christmas and had a super time then too! These guys just know exactly how to put on a really exciting event for little ones and because of its close proximity to London (you can even get there by public transport) it’s a real winner for us! We’d love to go back to their Eggstravaganza again this year and it’s definitely top of the list!

As you probably know, we’re fans of the theatre and visit often! One of our favourite ones in London is the Polka Theatre in Wimbledon! It’s nowhere near where we live and takes ages to get there on the tube but we go anyway because it’s so super! Every time I write about Polka I have loads of messages telling me how much other people love it too and my best friend Eve, who comes from Wimbledon, says she used to go when she was a little girl and loved it back then too! It’s got this lovely vibe about it and because they have some in door and out-door play areas as well as a great cafe with a train to sit on as you eat lunch, you can really make a day of it! Over Easter, as well as having work shops suitable for children from 4-13 years old, they have the absolutely brilliant sounding ‘Egg‘ which we are going to see on the 10th April so a bit after Easter for us and can’t wait! I will of course write a review afterwards but I think when it comes to this theatre we can safely assume it will be awesome! They’ve been around for years and clearly just know what little’n’s will enjoy! The last show we saw with them was ‘Too Many Penguins’ in the build up to Christmas and it was utterly delightful.

This new show  sees madcap birds on an adventure of a lifetime as they grapple with growing up and giving in to their natural instincts to take flight. And then of course they meet an egg! The story is said to unfold on a tiny, rustic set, exquisitely constructed out of twigs, feathers and shell. Guaranteed to entertain with magic, live music, plenty of action and an egg! The show which starts it’s run on 3rd April is suitable for children aged 4-7. My two are considered a little young for it but Florence is such a seasoned theatre goer that I’m sure she’ll enjoy it so we’re going to a ‘watch with baby’ showing. It’s great that they do these viewings because obviously people have children of all ages and they can’t leave the baby behind but don’t want older ones to miss out! It’s 40 minutes long which sounds about right for us and I’m sure Jimmy will just enjoy the atmosphere! If you’ve not been to Polka yet then you’re really missing out, just pop along for a drop in play one day and check it out for yourself!

Another fave of ours is visiting the cinema. It feels like a real treat, is super fun and if you go to the Vue cinema on weekend and holiday mornings you can see a film with the little ones for a super low price at their Kids AM showings. Parents pay the same as children and you can even pick up a Kids AM snack treat with pop corn, Oreo cookies and a Fruit Shoot which again is a very reasonable price! Check out their website and choose a cinema near you to find out what’s showing when. A great rainy day treat which won’t break the bank!

We all love a trip to the cinema!

I’m sure we’ll do lots of other things over the holidays, we’re lucky that London has so much to offer for FREE and we’ll try to do a few of our favourite things like visiting the Science Museum, Discover (we’ll forgive them for being a pain in the bottom the other day), The Museum of Childhood, London Museum of Docklands, Transport Museum and then all the different parks like Hainault Park which has Florence’s favourite Meerkats! I’ve also heard about a park which has The Gruffalo in it so we have to check that out at some point too! So much we’d like to do and we have to fit a trip in to Norfolk as well – don’t think we’ll be bored anyway!

I have not been paid to write this post.
