Baby Ballet Norfolk!

Baby Ballet Norfolk!

We were recently invited to try the new Baby Ballet Classes for Central Norfolk and we loved them so much we’ve signed up for this next term too!

Posie began the tinies class which is for babies aged 18 months to 3 years but there are classes for tots (6m-18m), movers (3y-4y) and Groovers (4.5y-6y). The classes run in various locations and are active every single day of the week with the exception of Sundays.

We’ve been going to Baby Ballet on a Friday morning as a nice way to end the week. We do Gymboree on a Tuesday, a play group on a Wednesday, and the other days we swim, take a day out or go for a story group at Book Bugs and Dragon Tales – I like to fill our days with fun but also with things which enrich Posie as a pre-schooler and she just loves to dance so this has been a perfect addition to our week!

She started out the first couple of lessons a little shy and I realised this is why they offer three trial sessions before a commitment, I think this type of class is a little different to most as it does come with a structure which is a little more rigid than say Gymboree. It’s not strict but Miss Phillipa, the teacher, graduates from move to move through various activities that running around doesn’t really accommodate for. This is a class to teach them to listen a little more and concentrate on what they are doing and because it’s only half an hour long this feels entirely realistic but Posie did want to suss things out before really throwing herself into it. By the third class she recognised the music and knew what she was doing so definitely felt more confident to join in with each segment.

Of course baby ballet is geared to babies and though we do have good toes and naughty toes and standing in first position, it’s not regimented like an older child’s ballet class and is much more free flowing. The children can move and dance as they wish if they would like to go off-piste – the key thing is that whenever they are up, moving, listening and engaging, Miss Phillipa is encouraging them with her warm smile and welcoming voice and the teddies make an appearance at the end which is always a favourite for Posie!

It’s a really lovely class which Posie graduated from with a certificate at the end of the half term which was mega sweet and now that we’ve moved to the next term, the classes have changed slightly. Not dramatically but it’s different moves and music with the same theme and style. Just so that nothing gets stale. We are really enjoying our time at Baby Ballet and will be asking family for ballet classes for her for her Christmas presents this year because I can’t think of anything she would like more!

There’s a timetable filled with classes across Norwich and Norfolk for ages 6 months to 6 years and each class costs £7.50 with a termly sign up and a one off joining fee. If you do one term and cannot continue you aren’t tied into an ongoing contract and everyone is entitled to a three week trial (for £20) before any decisions have to be made about termly classes.

What to wear?

You can buy dance wear from Baby Ballet but you can wear anything you like! Something to move easily in (you and the baby) and shoes are not necessary but I had them from when Florence did ballet and I couldn’t help myself! The tutu was on a special offer in H&M and I couldn’t help myself there either!

Worth mentioning there’s a hand stamp at the end – this is VERY important to Posie!

So, why not give it a go – ring Miss Wendy on 07368519637, email [email protected] or visit them on Facebook or Instagram to book your first class now!

Collaboration.
