Maxi-Cosi Loola – Out And About!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

A few days ago I wrote about a new buggy we’d been sent to test and gave you my first impressions! We immediately liked what we saw with the new version of the Maxi-Cosi Loola and now that we’ve been using it whilst out and about I am here to give you an update and tell you that our opinion hasn’t changed.

The updated version of an old favourite from the Maxi-Cosi brand is officially launched today at the Birmingham Baby Show and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed giving it the road test before anyone else! We’ve found it suitable for city living, travelling round on London transport and because it’s perfect from birth right up to around age 3 (15kg) and can be used with our Maxi-Cosi CabrioFix infant car seat (any of the infant seats from Maxi-Cosi are compatible), it makes a superb travel system!

The new Loola comes with some fab accessories and has some further still that can be purchased separately. We got to try out the buggy with it’s rain cover, the baby nest and car seat adaptors… So, how have we got on?

Well we live int he City and the Loola is a fab buggy for London life! I used it on all manner of public transport and at various different stations with no problems whatsoever. It’s quite light and easy to manoeuvre while fitting through every space needed.

The Loola is a City buggy for sure! It’s excellent for using on public transport and goes in lifts, barriers and on escalators very easily at stations!

Tube travel is a breeze. The Loola fits in the designated spaces and and it’s not too heavy for someone to help you up and down steps!

On the over ground was just as easy and the buggy even fitted between the seats when there wasn’t space in the designated area!
Loola Bus
Again on the bus it was no problem and fit easily down the aisle space where you get on the bus and pushed to the area designed for buggies and wheel chairs. With some buggies you have to ask the driver to let you on in the middle section but this was absolutely fine going in the main doors!

So public transport is not a problem and the buggy is light and small making it easy to carry but obviously with children you need to take lots of things out and about with you too so a buggy needs to be able to carry lots. It has to have space for extra shopping you might pick up throughout the day too! I always load a buggy up to the max so I was interested to see how this one would fair.

Storage was actually ample underneath the buggy but I also managed to find ways to carry more! There is a hook each side of the handle, I presume the matching change bag must go with these somehow but I found them great for hanging supermarket carrier bags on. Also, my handbag slipped nicely over the handle and you could easily apply a buggy clip as it is a bar and not two individual handles!

I used the buggy both forward and parent facing and found it extremely easy to switch from one to another, with just a simple push of a button each side, a turn around and then it locks into place. I liked the recline and found it smooth which is good if you have a light sleeper! The baby nest is intended to be used from birth but Jimmy is one and still fits into it which is pretty handy as the weather hasn’t been great this week despite a hint of summer a couple of weeks ago! A footmuff can be bought separately but as with the change bag, I haven’t used it so can’t comment on it. I also found using the car seat instead of the buggy seat was very handy and simple to apply.

The baby nest slips on and off by pushing the straps through holes in the back of it. Very simple and can be used last minute because it simply just slips on! It’s very soft and padded and Jimmy looked very snuggly resting his head on the head rest. At one I would say he is nearly at the baby nest limit but I think that’s quite good!
Maxi Cosi Loola
The car seat adaptors just lock into place and can make the car seat parent or forward facing which is excellent! A very handy feature for when the baby falls asleep in the car or to give more boot space as the frame without the seat obviously takes up less room! A great feature which makes the new Loola a travel system!

I like lots about the new Loola including the way the handle bar changes to three different positions for differing height pushers, the simple rain cover and the peep hole which allows you to look at the baby from where you push!

Maxi-Cosi Loola
The rain cover slips over and has elasticated corners, it’s a bit like a fitted bed sheet and is on in a minute! Brilliant! It doesn’t have a window but air holes are on the side!
Maxi-Cosi Loola
The handle bar flips up, sits in the middle or pushes downwards which is the position it needs to be for folding. I talked about the fold in my previous post and it’s easy all ways, forward, parent or without the seat.

Other handy things about the new Loola are the fact that the hood has a zip which can be undone and extends it, this is great for windy days when the rain cover isn’t needed but a bit more protection from the elements is! I also LOVE the peep hole in the hood and the fact that everything is wipe clean!

The only slight problem I have had with the Loola is that it doesn’t fit easily into the boot of my 3 door Corsa. It’s easily small enough width ways but the length when folded means I have to jiggle and wiggle it, but it does go in! I do however, like the fact that it stands upright on it’s own and can easily be tucked away in the house!

Maxi-Cosi Loola
The new Loola folds down quite small and stands up on it’s own. It’s long-ish even with the telescopic fold but still could be tucked away neatly!

We had lots of fun using the new style Loola and I can absolutely recommend it as a good buy! It does everything you would need from birth and my daughter who is nearly 3 and a half was also very comfortable when she sat in it. It’s very practical to boot – match it with a Maxi-Cosi infant car seat and a footmuff and you wouldn’t need to buy anything else. I think this buggy could be used as a main buggy and a holiday buggy all in one, it’s a package which is very well thought out and good value for money! We like it!

I have not been paid to write the Maxi-Cosi Loola review but I was given the product for the purpose of review.

  1. Cool article. I really like that I can also use Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix when I need to run some errands while my baby is sleeping.
