An Easter Eggstravaganza at Willows Farm!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

When we first visited Willows Farm Village in St Albans it was for their Easter Eggstravaganza last year. We had, quite simply, a fantastic time! I have written about it since in many posts and always had fabby things to say because, well, the farm is just fabby in general really!

We went back for Christmas, which we loved too but what we’ve really been waiting for is the Easter Eggstravaganza again! I’ve raved and raved about it to all my friends as it’s perfect if you live in London. It takes less than an hour in the car to get to (from East) and can even be reached by public transport; I can almost guarantee you’ll love it once you get there. I’d say smaller children are not just catered for but, in fact, the whole place is designed for them! I was so looking forward to it this year and we decided as Daddy was working that we would go with some of the friends we’d been singing the farm’s praises to! Easter holidays, a car full of children, colder weather than for our visit at Christmas, high expectations due to my constant praise… How did we get on?

Well, despite it being super cold and not being able to do all the things we wanted because of the weather, we had a fabby time – as always! It was so cold today it even snowed at various points. In fact, it was actually warmer when it snowed than when it didn’t… Brrrr! We couldn’t stay outside very much but we tried our best! We whizzed past the animals, jumped around to keep warm for the sheep races and egg hunt, had a ride on Tristan the runaway tractor and had a couple of carousel rides… Unfortunately we had to miss out on so many of the outdoor activities due to not being able to handle the cold!

Loving the outdoors despite the weather!

All was not lost though as we just played indoors instead! We went to story time and the puppet show in the theatre, played on bunny go karts and diggers indoors, shot balls out of air cannons, stroked baby chicks and held guinea pigs, had a picnic lunch under cover and  then we found the soft play! Can you believe this is my third visit and we never found it before?! It’s massive and has areas for babies, under 4’s and then a super duper big kids area complete with giant slides that even the adults can go on…

But it all got just too cold so we had most of our fun indoors! Jimmy was thrilled to get out of the buggy!

It might have snowed and been freezing outside but at Willows they have so much we still had a ball at their indoor activities! If I’m honest it wasn’t the day I’d hoped for. I’d wanted to stay outside, see the animals, pan for gold and milk the pretend cow… I wanted to spend ages doing the egg hunt, bouncing on inflatables and breathing in fresh air but today just wasn’t the day – all the more reason to go back in the summer then! Willows do make sure they can move anything possible indoors when the weather tries to put a spanner in the works and it’s still a lovely day out where we came home having had lots of fun! I’m just pleased I took a flask of soup that’s all! (Thank you to our little friend Zhane and her Mummy Lucy for coming with us)!
