It’s all hearts and flowers in the shops at the moment and while the cynic in me says Valentines Day is all a retailer’s gimmick, the softy in me adores celebrating this day! One year I made Jonny a Valentines treasure hunt all around the gated flat we were living in and had him running round outside in front of our neighbours to find the next clue! I do love to turn his cheeks red!
But it can all get a bit expensive and these days, with a young family, we can’t really afford the time or the money to go out for a slap up meal on this romantic day! A great solution is to do it all at home then and to save anyone the effort of being cook the supermarkets have some fabulous deals on with meals and chocolates!
Asda have sent me some of their stuff and I think it’s not only really good value for money but also super affordable! They have a special Valentines Meal For Two offer which is all ready to cook yummy meals from the Extra Special range created by the Leiths school of cookery! I have never had anything I don’t like from this range and can wholeheartedly recommend it! I love what great value this is and it is honestly restaurant quality! Perfect for those romantic amongst us who can’t get a baby sitter!
Not only do they have yummy food and bubbles to help make valentines Day special but lots of chocolates and novelties to boot!
The lovely people at Asda also sent us some rather fun love heart candles, just like the sweets but tea lights for a romantic table! Asda is always excellent value for money and we think their Valentine’s offerings for this year are fab!
We love these heart chocolates which look almost too pretty to eat while the love heart candles are super! And these sweets should go down well with the children too!
Asda also sent me a rather brilliant ice cube maker to make heart shaped ices for drinks! We thought you could put rose petals in the middle of each one to make them pretty but because it can also withstand oven temperatures we decided to do something a bit different with it!
We put broken up bits of crayons in all different colours then we popped it in the oven for 10 minutes so that they all melted into the heart shapes!
Remember to take the paper off of course!
A while later, when everything had cooled down and hardened we popped out all our hearts and I think you’ll have to agree they came out pretty well!
Now we have multicoloured hearts to draw with!
I love that the ice cube tray from Asda has the little indented heart in one corner which I never noticed until we popped the crayon hearts out!
I was sent some of the Asda Valentines range for the purpose of an honest review.
