My Autumn Style!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

I love the summer with endless days, balmy evenings and festival fashion in abundance but I’m not one of those who gets down about the weather when the nights start drawing in. Quite the opposite actually as I rather love to get my thick black tights and boots out for the colder months.

My autumn and winter fashion tends to be the tights and boots matched with some form of mini dress or jumper dress. It’s what I feel comfortable in and I love to buy my favourites year after year like the batwinged jumper dresses from Tezenis. I buy them in large so that they are really slouchy and I love how their asymetric cut drops down one side and then off the shoulder a touch too. They do them every year in a plethora of colours and this year they have sparkly ones too! I’m off to buy a sparkly black one this weekend but I’ve recently treated myself to new ones in black, grey and navy too. LOVE!

I’m also a big fan of the cape and have been wearing my Welsh Wool Company one for years and years. It used to belong to my Mum but has been mine since I was fifteen and it comes out every autumn. I’ve recently bought a blanket cape from Matalan for £12 which is super snuggly and a bit more casual than my cape. It looks really good with my Tezenis dresses and is perfect for those days which aren’t quite cold enough for a thick coat.

Other newbies in my wardrobe for this season have come from Zara. It’s not somewhere I often shop but I popped in when I was on Oxford Street the other day and came out with two dresses. A mini which I’m loving with with my super retro New Look Circa 2002 yellow suade jacket and a really pretty floral, puffy sleeved midi dress which remids me of pictures of my Mum from the seventies. I adore it!

I’m wearing the midi dress with last year’s T Bar heels from Clarks and the mini with my new long black platformed boots also from Clarks.

I do tend to go for dark colours and always have done I recently picked up a long sleeved polo neck swing dress from Asos which is typical of my style. I’m SO pleased with it that I’m going to buy another one – I like what I like! It was only £20 and came the day after I ordered it. I love Asos because it’s free to return any unwanted items and easy to just pop them back in the post – not that I often do of course. Another £20 bargain came from H&M in my 60’s floral cotton mini with long sleeves. I’m loving patterns this year!

Make up wise at the moment and I’m loving thick black eyeliner smudged UNDERNEATH the eye and flicked out a little at the edges but in a very subtle way. I’m also liking my chubby stick from Clinique in strawberry for my lips. It kind of gives a hint of pink and a because it’s moisturising it makes them look super healthy even though the weather is ensuring that they’re not in the best condition! The BEST thing I have found for my skin recently is Flora Mare Tinted Ani Aging Care. I use it as I would a foundation because it still gives excellent coverage but it looks super natural when on and gives my skin a dewy look which I prefer. It’s £19.99 on QVC which is a snip and it last s for AGES!

I’m accessorising with vintage pieces I’ve had forever. A bag Jonny bought for me at Spitalfields Market about a decade ago. I love the label inside. And I’m also LOVING my ‘LOVE’ necklace which my friend Kate bought me for my birthday one year.

So that’s me; minis, midis, dark colours, patterns and a hint of yellow. And for the children, as always, they’re in lots and lots of Littlebird by Jools Oliver at Mothercare. I have corduory trousers in green and red for Jimmy (totally Autumnal) with a gorgeous knitted fairisle cardigan for Florence that she’s going to wear with EVERYTHING this winter!

I love Florence in ribbed tights, skirts, thick knits and Peter Pan collars at this time of year and Jimmy looks super sweet in tank tops over little shirts. I’ve still lots to get for them this season but at the forefront of my mind right now is boots. They both need a new pair and I think this is just the time of year when the Uggs need to come out. There’s nothing like a brand new pair of Uggs warming your feet with their soft sheeps wool and kid’s Ugg Boots are utterly adorable! I’ve also seen somereally great kid’s shoes at Jones BootmakerSomething I have managed to buy in multiple is coats. I picked one up for Jimmy in Matalan the other day as he’d got his other one so grubby it had to be washed and wasn’t dry on a really cold day. It cost a tenner, is really thick and warm and it’s brilliant quality as well as looking really adorable on him – what a bargain!

So… That’s us for Autumn. What are you wearing?

  1. I am loving autumn style right now, I have bought some new boots from Clarks and a cape, life saver especially on cold and wet days like today! Also loving some bargain long sleeve tops from Primark.

    1. Agreed and still warm enough to get away with the ponchos and capes but cold enough for the boots and tights! 🙂

    1. Ha ha! I KNEW I wasn’t the only oldie to call it Hennes! Totally Hennes and Mautitz for me! And cheers chicken, don’t really look that good in the pics, need to take some better ones outside. x
