Aldi Special Buy Baby Monitor – A Review!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

Every week at Aldi (which if you don’t know I am rather a big fan of in general) they have special buys which are sold on a ‘when they’re gone, they’re gone’ basis! You can get some fantastic things and it’s always worth a look because the prices are brilliantly generous!

On Thursday 30th January their special buys included lots of baby things like a Hauck buggy for £22.99, a toddler pillow (which we’re going to try and get) for £3.99 and the Avent Microwave Steam Steriliser for just £9.99 (I had the exact same steriliser when Florence was born four years ago and I paid about double that price for it)!

Another of the best value items on the very extensive list is the Motorola Baby Video Moitor for £69.99! I honestly don’t think I’ve seen such a good quality monitor which can do all the things this one can for such an inexpensive price! Absolutely fabulous!

Aldi Baby Monitor Post

This is the amazing digital video baby monitor Aldi are selling for just £69.99!

I was sent the monitor to review and I have found no problems with it whatsoever. For the price this is an absolute steal but remember, ‘when they’re gone, they’re gone’! If you want to take advantage of this offer then you really need to get yourself to an Aldi pronto!

So why this monitor? Aside from being exceptionally good value for money, is it the one for you?

Well…

First of all as soon as it came out of the box it was super easy to use. I didn’t even look at the manual. There are two camera units (in this one although the same monitor can be bought with a single camera too) and one parent unit. They all have chargers so I powered them all up.

Powering up!

The power, when fully charged will work perfectly but obviously you can leave them plugged in which keeps them powering all the time if you prefer. The parent unit is the one that really needs to be off the power as you will need to take it about the house with you. Happy to report it didn’t run out of battery any of time I was using it and because it had a handy belt clip I didn’t forget to bring it with me wherever I went.

It’s great that there are two cameras as Jimmy sleeps in both his own room and in ours alternating throughout the evening (I know, don’t ask!) and also, if you have two children you can have a camera on each and switch from picture to picture on the parent unit as you like. You can register up to 4 units to the parent unit in fact.

The cameras have an infra-red LEDs to provide night vision illumination ensuring the picture is clear. The colour picture is brilliant on the parent monitor and so clear that you can see the tiniest of movement. Obviously the monitor will pick up any sound and send it through to the parent unit too. Often I think as a parent you just want to check when you can’t hear any sound so having the clear video picture is very helpful and means you don’t have to disturb the baby by going into the room.

This is my husband (don’t worry, not an extremely unusual looking baby) looking into one of the cameras so that I could capture this image on the parent unit!

If the baby does wake up the parent unit has the facility to ‘talk back’ to the baby and you can sooth them back to sleep by talking or singing to them (with mine this would never have worked even in the flesh but if you have a calm baby who likes the sound of your voice this could be aces)!

I also particularly like the lullaby function which can be operated from the camera unit and with three lullabies to choose from can be played on repeat for one individually or playing all three rolling. Again, if you have a calm baby who is easily soothed by lullabies then this is a great feature. I DO know of babies who are like this but mine are not…

The best feature I think is the temperature monitor which is constantly working from the camera unit. If the room temperature falls below 14c or 39c then it warns you either TOO COLD or TOO HOT! Brilliant!

Other features I like include: Volume control, a timer for reminding of feeding times etc, a beeper to alert of noise in the baby’s room even if the parent unit volume is off, different alert tones and different language options. The unit is also slim and easy to move into position which definitely helps!

Slimline and easy to move around!

This is a very sophisticated baby monitor at an amazing price from Aldi. I would recommend it to a friend and indeed I have done already! I’d say it’s worth it at some of the much higher prices I have seen on line while I have been researching so if you manage to pick one up in Aldi before they all sell I’d say well done you!

By the way, it’s not just baby things in the ‘Special Buys’ this week by the way – although there is LOTS. Gardening things including an Electric Propagator for £14.99 and also some rather yummy looking Oriental food to celebrate Chinese New Year are on the shelves!

If you’ve not been to Aldi then let me assure you it’s an experience you will repeat, the prices may be low but the quality certainly isn’t and we are more than happy that we’ve made the switch for the majority of our shopping! Big up Aldi!

I was sent the Motorola Baby Monitor for the purpose of an honest review.

  1. I love Aldi! I am liking the value of this monitor, and the talkback feature is one I always look for – sometimes that’s enough to soothe a fractious little one back to sleep! Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
