Ben And Holly Play Sets Swing Slide Character

A couple of weeks ago we reviewed the Ben and Holly Thistle Castle Play Set which we thought was pretty ace. We mentioned in the review that you could add to the set with other Ben and Holly play sets. The swing, slide and roundabout all come with a Holly figure (as does the castle) and interlock with the castle to create a bigger play area. They each cost £9.99 from Character and are for ages 3+.

We’ve now had a chance to play with two of the play sets (the swing and slide) and they are a lovely addition to the castle! Florence was particularly pleased with them as this type of small world play is just up her street and she thoroughly enjoys making up story lines for the little characters.

The swing is very nice and we love how Holly clicks into the seats. There is a swing at each side so that two characters can be swinging at the same time and when they are not in the swing they have little stands to click into so that they will stay upright.

The slide is also lovely and a leaf provides the apparatus for the characters to whoosh down (which they do very fast). They are both very in keeping with the TV programme and the long stemmed flowers are a pretty touch. The sets link together as well as linking in with the castle which is also rather cute.

My only problem with this toy, as it is with so many toys, is that each item comes with a Holly so if you collect the set you will end up with lots of them. I would always prefer to buy Ben and Holly separately and have the sets come with one of the other characters which they do sell individually along with a very sweet looking Ben on Gaston! Still, with two year old brothers things do go missing so at least we won’t be short if Holly goes for a little hide now and again! I think we will be asking Father Christmas for some of the characters for stocking presents this year as we do love the sets and both the children play with them very nicely and they are chunky and lovely to hold as well as being well made and sturdy.
