This time last week we were enjoying some glorious Camp Bestival fun with my very best camp mates Cookie, Katy and Carolynne! The sun shone, the beers flowed, the kids laughed, ran wild and life was exactly as it should be in English summertime! We will gloss over the fact the heavens opened on Saturday night and we got gusts f wind over 50mph meaning the last day had to be cancelled. The stuff that happened before that little sequence of events was beautiful enough to make it all worth while… And I’m sorry but out of ALL the sunny weather… And out of ALL the weekends for it to do that…
Oh well! We all came out alive and thought we will all need new tents for next year (yeah, thanks wind), we will definitely be back on the Camp Bestival bus for another year. I can’t tell you what a great place it is to be with the family!
This year’s highlights were:
- Seeing Rick Astley sing with Mary Berry on the drums. My face still aches from all the smiles!
- Being at camp (which is rather fine with lush showers whatever section you’re camping in) and sitting around with my mates!
- Dancing in the Bollywood tent!
- The quick return of Cookie’s oldest when he went AWOL. Camp B have amazing safety measures that we now know WORK!
- Dingly Dell fun to shade from the sun!
- The burgers… Oh my… hey were the BEST burgers!
- Watching the kids enjoy, for another year, circus skill learning!
- Seeing Dick and Dom – Jimmy is STILL singing about Bogeys and making up ‘legal’ swear words!
- Having some of my bestest mates with me and our kids loving each other for such a long stretch of time – we don’t live close to each other and it was mega to have them all
There’s more but I’ll leave you with our pictures for you to see for yourself. We LOVE Camp Bestival, it was the best year yet despite the weather and we LOVE how they care and are just as gutted about the last day being cancelled as we were! Thanks for another stonking good party Camp B!
