Cycle Of Good!
If you’re looking to make better choices and be more ecologically friendly this Christmas then do check out Cycle Of Good who turn rubbish into beautiful things, not only that but they’re offering my readers a whopping 20% off at the checkout using the code ROCK20!!
Not only do they take old, disused postal bikes and up”cycle” (see what I did there?!) them into beautiful every day use “Elephant bikes” but with that ecologically thoughtful approach to business, they also gift one to a person in Malawi for every bike sold. Originally British made, they are expertly restored and look incredibly useful with that postman’s basket on the front. What a genius idea.
But that’s not all… The other products they make, using recycled materials such as bike inner tubes, are professionally made by 33 full time employed tailors in Malawi with ambitions to create more roles taking them to 100 employees. It means their skilled craftsman can work and support their families without any need for charitable handouts all while repurposing items which would have ended up in landfill, making them into something new.
My recycled coffee sack and inner tube shopping bag is brilliantly big, very useful and it looks fantastic too. Even the tag was tied on with a piece of inner tube and I love that so much I’m not even removing it from the bag!
The recycled coffee sack and inner tube shopping bag (£16-£18) can fit so much in it and it makes for a far more aesthetically pleasing shopper. I love it. Look how useful it is on my Instagram post here with my Tickled Pink haul!
You’ll find that a lot of supermarkets are no longer selling bags because it’s so bad for the environment. Going are the days of being able to just inexpensively buy another plastic bag and buying bags more ethically, in an ecologically friendly way is the way forward. I’d say this one is a blooming good shout! It’s not just shopping bags that they make though, there’s back packs, tote bags, make up bags… All sorts of bags and all from recycled material. I’m using the recycled inner tube multi pouch with waterproof zip (£29) to be Raffie’s new camera case. He got a camera for his birthday and needs to keep it safe so this is perfect!
Then there’s the anything goes recycled lorry curtain cube bag (£10-£16) which is made in 5 different sizes and can be used for anything you like too. Posie is keeping some of her smaller pieced toys in this one!
Even the tags are tied onto the products using scraps of recycled inner tubes. It’s a great initiative all round providing jobs of purpose, with income for skilled people who deserve it. Not to mention absolutely fantastic products which would have otherwise ended up as landfill in their original incarnation. They make tons of products too, from purses and wallets to belts and how about bunting which is to be used for celebration, after celebration!
This is the chitenge cotton bunting which is different patterns and colours every time. Never the same one is made twice so it’s a real slice of something bespoke just for you, to bring out on every celebratory occasion. A great way to decorate for a party and at just £10 I don’t think you can go far wrong! It goes very well with my birthday calk board which is another re-used item that comes out for everyone’s birthdays. I made that but I don’t have any sewing skills I’m afraid, I’d far rather buy some well made bunting from Cycle of Good!
