We were invited to see a performance of Disney On Ice – Worlds Of Fantasy and for the past month or so have been having a count-down to the big day! We have been beyond excited looking forward to it and when I say we, I really do mean that! Since ‘Frozen’ and the obsession which has taken over viewing and listening in our house since about November, I have kind of just been caught up in the magic! Sorry, can’t help it! I LOVE Disney and I’m proud!
Obviously the biggest fan in the house is Florence and for her, I think the wait and going to see it at Wembley, has been like a teenager experiencing seeing a major favourite music act for the first time! So, pretty important! The main questions from were ‘are there going to be Disney Princesses’? Yes! And would she be able to have a light up whizzy whizzy wand for the performance! Another yes, oh why not?!
The day arrived and excitement at fever pitch we made our way to Wembley where we met my cousin (Aunty Helen) who joined us for he performance. Helen in young, beautiful and very, VERY cool… I joked with her ‘I bet when you’re out being all trendy somewhere tonight, you’ll be telling all your pals about Disney On Ice’… Very tongue in cheek and we giggled!
But then the show started and the masses of over excited children, most of whom were wearing Disney Princess dresses (aside from Florence who was very gallant when I explained I had forgotten hers), were silent! We had entered their world and they were entranced!
Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald performed the master of ceremonies and kicked the show off with a very amusing skit which saw their car break down leaving a wide invitation for the stars of ‘Cars’ to come out! Little boys all around gasped and Florence was smiling ear to ear despite no ‘princesses’ having made an entrance yet! Jimmy thought the ‘Cars’ skit was totally brilliant and sat dancing on my lap all the way through!
Next up came Ariel and her gang! The under the sea spectacle was simply amazing and just when I thought she couldn’t be topped out came Tinkerbell! Cars, The Little Mermaid and Tinkerbell all performed beautiful condensed versions of their cartoon films and with truly amazing ice dancing which left Helen and I gripped (let alone the children), we were exhausted by interval time!
We thought the first half was so amazing with lifts, flying trapezes, spins, flips, costumes and songs that we couldn’t imagine what was about to become would top it all! But it did!
The second half was devoted to Toy Story (this is Daddy’s favourite) and it was utterly, utterly mesmerising! The costumes, the music, the dancing (us) and skating (performers)… Oh WOW is all I can say!
Helen left the arena actually going to tell her hipster friends what she’d done that morning, I left feeling I would DEFINITELY buy tickets for this in the future and the children left having had an utterly thrilling time, being even more of a Disney fan than they were before (hard but apparently possible) and with great big smiles planted firmly on their faces!
It’s safe to say that we LOVED it!
Her smile says it all! (I have LOADS of pictures and clips to share of our time but I have to check if I am allowed to before I post them… Watch this space for hopefully more soon!)
