Dog Man Costume – How To Make!

World Book Day came last week and Raffie knew for weeks in advance that he wanted to be Dog Man, the crime fighting Police Dog Man who’s stories are written by Dav Pilkey who must be making an absolute fortune with his many, many books in the series, alongside the new movie which is how, I think, Raffie and the vast majority of his mates have discovered their new favourite book character. Whatever gets them reading eh?! Raffie is devouring them and going through a book every couple of days which is ace but how to dress up as Dog Man?
Costumes on line looked rather rubbish, not to mention expensive so I decided I’d make my own! An old school jumper, a blue hat from Amazon (£3.99), a bit of iron on vinyl (for my Cricut machine and can be bought in Hobbycraft – although I cut this shape free hand), some material bought, again, in Hobbycraft where I got 10cm from the roll for about a pound, the woolly filling bit from a Hello Fresh box (could use anything similar for stuffing), wool to sew with, sharp scissors and a big needle was all it took to make ears which I sewed onto the hat and then the ironing on of the logo to the hat and the jumper – et voila!

To make the super easy ears I just cut out four ear shapes that matched, cut the same shape but smaller from the Hello Fresh wool, and used wool of a similar colour to sew inside out all the way around. Turn it the right way, stuff and finish off before adding to each side of the hat, So easy!
I finished the outfit off with a face painted black nose and Raffie loved it!

While Raffie went to World Book Day at school last week, Posie and I headed to Wroxham barns for their World Book Day fancy dress competition day. Posie went as peppa Pig, which is also costume I made!
