Easter Egg-Stravaganza AT Pensthorpe – 2026!

It’s been a while since we visited Pensthorpe, not because we don’t love it, but because school has stolen Posie and gone are the easy days where an annual pass saw us there every week. I miss that, but to fnd the silver lining, I can confirm it’s even more exciting when you’ve missed it! Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that, and to make a return visit during the Easter break felt perfect! The gardens aren’t blooming quite yet but the promise is there and with a hint of sunshine warming us as we walked and talked and played our way around the lake, it felt really good to be back!
The Easter Egg-Stravaganza isn’t the only draw to making a beeline for this gorgeous destination this Easter, for they also have a brand new element to the outdoor play in their “living towers! In keeping to its environment within the Wild Rootz play area, the new addition adds more great fun to the already generous offering for play at Pensthorpe. Joining the stream, which runs down the middle of the area and can be paddled in whatever the weather, zip wires, slides and climbing apparatus, as well as giant musical instruments and other fabulous equipment, is this brand new structure, which has two towers joined by a bridge and with plenty of things to play on, do, see and use, while going from one to the other! A fireman’s pole, tube to contact from one tower to the other and plenty more besides proved great fun for Raffie and Posie when we visited and as it’s right next to the egg hunting field, we got to see first, what was to come, from the tremendous vantage point above one tower which is also covered in growing willow, which will, over time, over more of the structure! It’s lovely to look at and great fun to play on!

And for Easter, they’ve gone all out with the most brilliantly fun egg hunt! Organised to perfection you can book a time slot when you buy your tickets (also book a slot for the indoor play at Hootz House) and join Penny the Pensthorpe Easter Bunny to find a bag of colourful eggs which can be exchanged at the kiosk for a bag of chocolates! Super fun and all included in the ticket price for children!

And then there’s everything else! Pond dipping, lots of adventures, games and invitations to play along the lake walk, gardens, flamingos and wildlife to see. We never come away from Pensthorpe satisfied that we’ve completed it and don’t want to come back – it’s a different visit every time and with each season brings so many different reasons to go. It’s a long drive for us, but well worth it! If Posie wasn’t at school now we’d continue to be season ticket holders because we love it so much, but… We will always find a reason to get back there whether it’s camping in the summer or a festive visit, so we will, of course, be back (if not quite as frequently as we’d like anymore)!

Tickets for the easter Egg-Stravaganza are best value on line (a pound more on the door) and cost £14.95 for adults, £13.95 for seniors, £15.95 for children over 3 and £1 for those under.
We were invited as guests.
