In two week’s time it will be back to school and this means only one thing right now… Uniform shopping. I absolutely despise this element of the summer holidays because it has to be done now (or everything will sell out) and it has to be done in person (because kid’s uniform needs to be tried on and fit perfectly knowing that there’s no time to waste sending things back). Gah! It seems blooming unfair that a whole day of the holidays has to be taken up with this annoying task which doesn’t spell fun shopping with things you like but writes out BACK TO SCHOOL far quicker than it needs in my opinion. Oh well, it has to be done…
I think what I will do to counter balance the doom and gloom of school uniform purchasing is a little bit of retail therapy of the nicer, perhaps more frivolous variety. Something to make the last two week’s of the holidays feel like holidays (as they should) and not like a downwards slope back to reality… But I haven’t got time to go around the shops, not with all this sunshine we’re having; I shall instead have a peruse of the tinter web and find some gorgeous things for us to wear on our last holiday of the summer.
We are off to Dorset again at the end of the week to go to my cousin’s wedding and we will be camping for a few nights beforehand too. Don’t worry, the night of the wedding we have a hotel booked and it looks flipping gorgeous with an outdoor pool and spa… I plan on lying on a sun lounger over looking the sea as the kiddos and Jonny play in the pool and I think a new kaftan would be just the ticket. I’ve found a really lovely soft jersey beach dress from Esprit that will be perfect and I reckon as we will be splashing about on the beach too, the chilldren deserve a new swim suit to do so in.
I might even buy some dresses for next summer in the sales and try to get a little wear out of them on the holiday too. I do love a dress for perfect beachy dreamy days in the sun! As my cousin’s wedding is going to be right on the beach I have chosen a dress which is smart enough for that but also casual enough to fit the scene. It’s from House Of Fraser and I have been waiting to wear it all summer as I got it ages ago. I have bought some lovely suade heels from Clarks to go with it but when we are on the beach I shall go barefoot letting my accessories lift it on their own. I’ll be wearing my gold cuff and new golden bee necklace from Alex Monroe.
The beauty of online shopping is that it really takes no time at all and for convenience, which is what school uniform shoping is anything but, it’s perfect. I always find I get less carried away on line and buy quite sensibly too. Whenever I go into the city shopping I find I start to panic buy after about two hours and come home with things I then have to traipse back to the shops to return. Yes, it’s on-line shopping for me all the way! Click, click… Where are your fave on line stores?
