Easy Ways to Save Money on Your Child’s Birthday party

Planning your child’s birthday party can sometimes get out of control. You want them to have the best experience, but it can very quickly get ridiculously expensive.

Set a budget 

Give yourself a budget and stick to it. Buying a birthday present alone can be expensive, and you don’t want to spend money on things you don’t need for the party. 

Creating a checklist will help you make sure you don’t overspend. Don’t forget to add all the essentials like balloons that match the theme of the party, paper plates and cups, and a birthday card to go alongside the present.  

Get creative 

It’s tempting to buy the invitations and decorations, but it’s another cost to add to the list. Pinterest is filled with creative ideas you and your children can do together. Grab the glue gun and glitter pens and make your own bunting and banners. As well as adding a personal touch, you’re also saving money. 

Have a picnic 

Buying the ingredients for sandwiches and finger foods is a lot less costly than getting a caterer. Kids love fun foods, and you can use cookie cutters to shape your sandwiches to match the theme of the party. Be sure to create a shopping list in advance so you’re not buying more than you need. 

You’re also saving money by having the birthday party at home. If your garden is big enough, lay out some blankets so the children can eat together.  

Birthday cake 

The birthday cake is usually the showstopper at the party and it’s something you can make yourself if you’re skilled in baking.
