It doesn’t feel like a week has gone by already but somehow time just flows rather than trickles when your having fun and today we enter the second week of the summer holidays. The first week has been heaped with fun as well as relaxing as my girl definitely needed to re-charge her batteries. I picked her up on the last day of term and she was bouncing around having fun in the play ground but by the time we got to the park to celebrate being free for the summer she had a temperature and had curled up in Jimmy’s buggy to have a sleep. I think it was just that she was so exhausted from working so hard that she needed to rest so we’ve made sure that although we’ve had fun, we haven’t done too much at the same time.
We’ve been to the theatre, out for lunch a couple of times, played with our friends, come to stay with my Mum in Norfolk and gone to the beach despite the weather being crappy! Come on sunshine, these are not the long hot summer days we had been hoping for!
Jonny and I went to the wedding of two very old friends which was lovely and the sun DID make an appearance for their big day! Another day I got to spend the afternoon with one of my oldest closest pals who is pregnant and due in September so it’s been great to catch up. It’s been quite lovely being in Norfolk and perhaps I’m warming to the idea of being here permanently, especially when it means getting to see great friends often. We’ve even been looking at some Hopkins Homes in developments that are already built as we are hoping to move to one in the village of Mulbarton where they are just starting the build. I never thought I’d want a brand new house but actually, they’re pretty bloody lovely and the thought of four bedrooms and a utility room is definitely drawing me in!
On to the second week and it’s Camp Bestival here we come. I am driving (gulp) on my own (well, with the children) all the way to Dorset and then putting (gulp) the tent up on my tod! I rather do hope some kind men will see me struggling and put it up for me so feminists don’t shoot me but I’m practicing my pathetic ‘help me’ look! Got the wagon packed with our jelly shoes, flower garlands and face paints (and some other important things too) and we’ll be off! SO looking forward to it!
