How to make the perfect summer bar in your garden room
After numerous lockdowns in recent years the onus on “staying home” has never been greater. We may not have wanted it in 2020, but it gave us a taste for the simpler things in life which as a nation I think everyone has run with going forwards. More down time, more family moments and more simply doing little, while staying at home, is firmly on the agenda for lots of us, and even though we are no longer confined by rules to the four walls of our home, it’s easy to see why we love to be within them.
Making our home spaces our playgrounds has become incredibly popular as a result and with redesigns for extensions high on the list for many, the garden room is now as popular as loft conversions. The window to our outside space marrying the outside space into the home is as glamorous and fun as it is practical, especially when you install a summer bar of dreams so that leaving the house this summer (and winter, who wants to wait for taxis home in the colder months) is a thing of the past. It’s all about home entertainment and turning that fabulous new room into one which works as a night out, as well as family space is just the ticket.
Garden sheds being turned into “pubs” is so yesterday when you can have that gorgeous drinks area within the warmth of your own home. We’re talking cocktails (anyone for a passion fruit martini?) and prosecco in our house and we want to see all the trappings of a “Sex and the City” worthy NYC joint we can impress our friends with when they come over for a tipple! And your garden room can be the new place to be.
Once your garden room has been designed and built, you can kit it out however you please. A popular choice is the installation of a bar area, be it a freestanding one picked up on the high street or custom designed and built for you (by you if you’re handy), is the easy part. Choosing the seating area, the embellishments, and the bar stock, now here comes the fun!
As well as the drinks being in abundant plenty keep a big bowl of fruit for the cocktail decorations and ingredients and ensure your syrups are stocked well. It’s all about the little bits and pieces if you want to make it a home bar from actual bar! A small under the counter fridge is also a very good investment to keep the drinks cold on those sunny days when the bifold doors can be swung open and your party can extend outside as well as enjoying all the efforts you’ve put into your brand-new garden bar area.
What are you waiting for? Invite your friends over to join you (we’re not in lockdown anymore!) and sit back and relax at the bar of your own creation inside your own luxury garden room.
Collaboration.
