Just over a year ago we used the Interplay Fairy Garden Kit and Florence was absolutely thrilled with it. It was so much fun and it looked beautiful when the grass had grown. We’ve kept all the bits from it and we will do it again soon for sure because it was just lovely to watch it develop after all the fun of making it up.
Around the same time we used another Interplay kit, ‘My Living Butterfly World’ where we got to watch caterpillars grow their cocoons and turn into butterflies before releasing them. It was something very special to do and super simple but yet without the aid of the kit it would have been very tricky and we enjoyed the experience so much that we would absolutely recommend it.
Interplay have lots of really interesting kits in their collection and what I like about their range is that it’s very diverse; you could find something to interest everyone I’m sure. Florence is very keen on girly bath products and can’t pass the shop ‘Lush’ without wanting to go in for a bath bomb so when I heard about the Interplay Bath Bomb Making Kit. I knew this one would be just up her street too!
A little bit of science mixed with something she really likes and it had to be a hit! I think the instructions are really good for not just children but adults too as they explain the science behind the bath bombs we made and we got to really understand why they would fizz and how. They also took us on a step-by-step process of making so we couldn’t really go wrong and provided everything we needed with the exception of shower gel of which only a few drops are needed.
Florence really enjoyed making these bath bombs and the best bit is that the results are instant. You can use them straight away as soon as they come out from the mold and for a child that’s a real plus. It does say that they might be better if left to dry for a few hours but the fact you CAN use one straight away is definitely a bonus! The kit also comes with wrapping and ribbons so that you can make some as gifts and as it makes up to 12 bath bombs you can make some for yourself and some to give away.
We really enjoyed this one which although fiddly (it is aimed at children 8+) as long as you follow the instructions then you shouldn’t get into a muddle. We loved the top tip in the instructions to add a little bit of perfume to them as well as this was really lovely when added and perfect for the gift ones that we made. Can’t fault this kit really, there’s even a trouble shooting section to tell you what might have happened if something has gone wrong. Well done Interplay, this certainly is a FAB LAB!
Interplay make lots of kits so do check out their website here to find one for you.
