Florence is very particular when it comes to her clothes and sometimes, because I am very particular for her outfits too, this can cause a bit of a problem. She won’t wear something if she doesn’t like it and although I see her point of view, occasionally the things she DOES like are a bit more ‘diamonte’ than I would ideally choose…
She does however (much to my relief) like lots of the things I DO want her to wear so every now and then I allow a bit of sparkle and bling and every now and then she agrees to wear something for an occasion that she’d rather not to. She’s learned the art of give and take!
One of the styles of design we both like however and very rarely argue over is very prevalent in both the Joules and Little Bird from Mothercare ranges for children. I love an old-fashioned look where children are dressed as children not as mini adults and both these brands do that perfectly. Not a slogan, character motif, leopard print anything or bejewelled cat in sight – very good! We very rarely clash when it comes to these two brands and I often let her choose her own clothes from them as I know I will be happy with anything she picks.
Recently she chose the Phoebe dress from Joules partly because she really loves the dress and probably partly because her Aunty is called Phoebe (if I’m honest)! Either way it is a beautiful dress perfect for a party and for Christmas day, one which will classically last and last and one which she will be able to wear again next year even if a little bit shorter.
This little girl’s dress costs £39.95 and is brand new into their festive collection. It has an empire line, 3 quarter length sleeves and is 100% cotton. The hem has a Christmas scene with sledgers, horse and carriages and children playing in the snow. As it moves up you see the backdrop of a quaint English village and then the main part of the dress has little stars all over it with even a shooting star in the mix. Also, look closely and you will see Father Christmas and his reindeer! It is beautiful and every detail from the shining buttons to the turn up cuffs are perfect. I don’t think I could like it more and Florence said she is going to wear it for every party and on Christmas day – she loves it so much!
For Jimmy who doesn’t yet have too much opinion on his clothes I get to choose entirely on my own and for him still. A shirt and tank top simply had to be the choice from the Joules collection this winter. Party season is upon us and why shouldn’t he be dressed in something special too? These two are every bit as gorgeous as Florence’s dress and although he likes to hide his hands in the slightly too big sleeves (well, why buy small – Mum’s just aren’t programmed to) I think you’ll have to agree the shirt is just lovely!
Jimmy loves this boys shirt as it has little cars all over it and as you will see by what he is holding in his hand, he’s rather keen on cars! I like it because it looks really good even when worn all afternoon for a party! It costs £29.99 and as I mentioned, I’ve gone big (not intended honest) so it will last him a while yet!
The Fair Isle Tank Top (£27.95) is absolutely adorable, it’s super warm and so sweet. I LOVE this combo so much and Jimmy is very comfortable in it too.
Both of these outfits were worn for a party over the weekend and we had lots of compliments, especially for the dress. Florence styled her dress up with some turquoise tights from Boots and her gorgeous Little Bird coat from last season. The shoes are me giving a little compromise (for parties only) and are sparkly heels from Monsoon. She felt wonderful in her outfit!
We were sent some clothes of our choice for this post.
