On Saturday morning, with a bit of a handy over if I’m truthfully honest, the children and I made our way into central London for a spot of cake decorating at the Primrose Bakery with Lalaloopsy and Martha Collinson from the Great British Bake Off.
Florence and I were totally new to GBBO this year but even though I hadn’t watched the series before, I’d still heard of Martha. When she was on the show she was the youngest ever contestant and now she has her own cookery book coming out which is amazing! She’s the same age as our favourite contestant from the latest series, Flora and when I showed Floence her picture she decided that Nartha was obviously last year’s Flora and would have been our favourite back then! Happy days!
So we might not have been terribly familiar with Martha before the event but we were already massive fans of Lalaloopsy and we LOVE to decorate cakes so we knew it was going to be a great morning.
The Primrose Bakery is where Carrie Bradshaw used to pick up her cup cakes in Sex And The City so we were excited to see the London store where my good friend Adriana always orders her party cakes – Adriana has the most impeccable taste, believe me! I love going to her parties and the cakes are always absolutely delicious so I’m not too sure why I’d not been to the bakery myself yet and now that I have, I may very well bankrupt myself in cake – inexpensive they are NOT but AMAZING they most certainly are!
And the reason we’d been invoted to the bakery? Well, Lalaloopsy, one of our faves and a brand we are ambassadors for, has a cake fashion doll which you can decorate and play with just like you are decorating a real cake! She comes with everything you need to make cake inspired designs on her dresses, shoes and hair and the children thought she was fabulous!
Of course you can’t actually EAT the Lalaloopsy once ou’ve decorated her so because we were in the mothership of cake, WITH baking expert Martha, the children got to decorate some sweet treats they could actually eat too!
We had a great morning and special thanks have to be given to my friend Modern Mummy who knew how badly I’d exposed myself to three different types of alcohol the night before (I’m 36 but I never learn) and brought me coconut water to sort myself out – it did the trick chick, you’re a star!
The children would like to thank Lalaloopsy as they got to take their own Lalaloopsy Girl’s Cake Fashion Doll home with them. They’ve been arguing ever since over which one the yellow haired doll belongs to as she seems to be the firm favourite with my two!
We were invited to a fab event to phave a play with Lalaloopsy Girl’s Cake Fashion Doll and to decorate some cakes with Martha.
Loved this post, so cute
Thank you, that’s sweet. 🙂
I MUST visit Primrose Bakery, I’ve been meaning to for so long. Tilly was very lucky to be sent a gift bag of cupcakes from there by her Aunt earlier this year and they were divine! She would’ve loved this event actually because she loves all things cooking and baking but for some reason we’ve never got into watching GBBO. xx
