Just the other day I realised that my DKNY Be Delicious perfume is running out and when I checked my other scents it was a little annoying to find that they too were on the way out. I was always told you should never buy yourself perfume you see but with my birthday having just been in the summer, my anniversary (as if he’d remember in enough time to buy a present anyway) last month and Christmas still a couple of month’s away I thought I might have to go against ‘the perfume rule’!
I was wondering whether to stick with something I use regularly or if perhaps I should choose something new when as luck would have it I was invited to sample all the delicious delights The Perfume Shop has to offer for Christmas. Could there be a more perfect place to choose a new scent than a room full of the world’s most finest fragrances? I smelled a lot of perfume today. A LOT! And I’ve come away with more than a few new favourites (as well as more than a few new bottles – thanks The Perfume Shop, your treating me means I haven’t broken ‘the perfume rule’) too!
The Perfume Shop stocks just about every fragrance I can think of and I had some lovely chats with the teams behind the design houses who they belong to. First up the Men’s fragrances: I love that Lacoste has four different colours to match four different male personalities (My favourite was definitely the white) and it was very exciting to see Gerard Butler’s real signature on a classic bottle of Hugo Boss (he’s the new face of the brand – what an excellent choice I might add). I really liked Issey Miyake’s L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme and you can’t beat a man in Calvin Klein, either the fragrance OR the underwear!
For the women my favourite scent of the day has got to be Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs closely followed by a similar when it comes to delicate florals Ma Vie by Hugo Boss. They’re both gorgeous but that Daisy Dream bottle pushes it slightly into top spot for being as gorgeous on the outside as it is in!
The Marc Jacobs bottles are hard to beat actually and I especially love the ‘Dot’ bottle as it’s like a Ladybird and with Ladybirds being my favourite (Florence’s middle name is even Ladybird) I can’t resist it!
And the Perfume Shop also has treats for the little ones this year with a selection of fragrances from Disney’s Frozen (wonder how long it will take for that one to sell out) to Spider Man! What a cute idea for little ones and I’m sure girls in particular will feel very grown up with a gift box of scents!
And then we move onto the gift boxes which are such excellent value as you get a body lotion for free in most cases. I particularly liked the gift idea of the Viva boxes though (there’s one for men and one for women). 7 miniature fragrances from different houses and then a voucher to go and buy the big bottle of the one you like best. A FABULOUS idea and at £39.99 a bit of a bargain too as are most things at The Perfume Shop it seems!
I came away having liked the 007 novelty scent which will be in gold packaging this year for the anniversary of God Finger, lots of classic scents like Miss Dior and with some new fragrances to go away and try. Actually for real as they sent me home with loads and even that gorgeous bottle of Daisy Dream is now mine! I’m still going to have to try and trick someone into buying me a new bottle of DKNY Be Delicious though and if I can make them buy it at the perfume shop they can use a loyalty card to build up points to receive money off future purchases!
Thanks for a beautifully fragranced morning The Perfume Shop and also to Carolynne from Mummy Endeavours for a brilliantly fun coffee afterwards!
I went to the press preview for Christmas at The Perfume Shop.
