Summer has rolled around again and we have been spending a good deal of time back in Norfolk staying with my Mum. It’s a lovely place to be in the sunshine and even though it’s home to me really, I’ve been feeling that holiday vibe and getting out and about with all the tourists. Beach days and family attractions are wonderful in both Norfolk and Suffolk and there’s one place that I just wouldn’t want to miss, Pleasurewood Hills!
Pleasurewood Hills is a retro theme park on the borders of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft and somewhere I’ve loved going since I was a child myself. In fact, it was my number one choice for a day out and I’m so pleased, every summer, to see that it’s still going strong – in fact, not much has changed and I really enjoy that!
It has a few total thrill rides for the dare devils amongst us and every year it adds to the collection of rides, this year welcoming some super fast dodgems for more grown up children and it continues to keep al the old rides I loved so much growing up. The Rattlesnake roller coaster which I remember being a Ladybird (a REALLY long time ago) sits at the bottom of the park by the tiny dodgems and the chair lift (a must for any PWH fan) and over the whole park sit rides to be enjoyed by everyone. All are catered for with a special pocket in the middle for quite small children and then a few more dotted about the place for little ones too.
I like how there are two play areas either side of the park and places where parents can relax while watching them play. This park isn’t crammed in and it has lots of greenery to enjoy. I feel totally safe here and really get a kick out of the fact that both my children get just as excited about going as I did when I was little. The rides and the park IS retro but nothing is faded or outdated. The rides, like the carousel and two different trains are super sweet and although they may not be all singing and all dancing like bigger theme parks they hold their own very nicely. The price of entry is inexpensive too let it be said!
I think Pleasurewood Hills is fantastic with tiny children as there is so much for them to go on but the fact they have a sea lion and parrot show makes it even better. Head to these early as they DO get pretty full and are not to be missed! They’re not only fun but informative too and things like holding a parrot after the show are low cost. £2 buys you a parrot poster AND parrot on your shoulder which you can take photos of yourself. I know this would be more expensive elsewhere but Pleasurewood Hills have got it right by making it affordable!
We made this video of our day at Pleasurewood Hills for summer 2015 where we enjoyed the trains and sea lion show the most from the whole day! We’ll be back!
We were guests of Pleasurewood Hills in order to write an honest review.
