I recently wrote about my favourite baby outfit ever which is a gorgeous ensemble from Polarn O.Pyret given to me by my old work colleagues when I was pregnant with Florence. She wore it and wore it and now Jimmy does too as it’s unisex; I still love it and it still looks great despite many, many washes! It sparked a love of PO.P clothes for me and we have continued to wear them ever since. From their socks (which stay on) and tights to pyjamas and day wear we are massive fans of the unusual ranges they stock. You can always tell PO.P clothes a mile off as they stand out from the crowd being entirely different to anything else on the market!
Reasons I love PO.P clothes despite them being fairly pricey are many. They actually last such along time that it really makes spending the extra totally worth it. Not only do they last in the sense that they wash well and continue to look pristine but they are designed in such a way that means you can adjust lots of them as your baby grows. The wrap around body suit, which is my favourite, is not adjustable however yet it still lasted my children from when they were around 3 or 4 months until over a year old for Florence and with Jimmy, at very almost 1, he still fits in it now and has some way to go. The age size on the label says 2-4 months so this should give you some indication. While my children are on the smaller side, they are certainly not like 4 month old babies at the age of one year old but the body suit fitted them when they were and it still fitted them much later too – how? I don’t know, it’s like a magic suit! Jimmy also fitted in his age 1-2 month jeans until he was 10 months old, the cuffs at the ankles folded up and down and they just lasted and lasted. They were a hand me down from a friend who also got good wear from them and they could easily be used again as they have, like all the clothes from PO.P we’ve ever had, aged very well!
Other things aside from the lastability are the little details PO.P remember that other brands might not. Quite a few children’s trousers have the adjustable elastic waist bands inside them these days which is brilliant for us because Florence has such a tiny little waist! It makes a big difference because otherwise trousers that fit her round the waist are age 1-1 and a half but her leg length is that of a three year old of course. While other brands have remembered to put the elastic in their jeans and trousers I’ve never seen leggings with them aside from the PO.P ones and it means in winter leggings are not really in her wardrobe at all. In summer it’s not too bad and she can wear the smaller ones as cropped, but ankle swinging on cold days just isn’t pleasant at all!
I also like the interesting patterns, the quality of materials used (you’ll never touch PO.P clothes and find them anything other than soft), the fact that lots of the clothes are unisex and also that nothing is too babyfied! It’s gorgeous and sweet and cute but in a different way to all the baby pinks and baby blues, it’s classy! The main reason I like them so much these days though is because their boy’s clothes (like all their clothes) are interesting, cool and fabulous looking. I go into so many shops where they have rails upon rails of gorgeous girl’s clothes and then a small section with some rather uninspiring collections for boys. It’s getting better and I work with some brands which have certainly improved but PO.P are very definitely the leaders for boys style in my opinion! I know I will go in there and find at least ten things I could buy Jimmy in any one visit! (I really do have to keep a lock down on my purse and sometimes have to force myself to walk past entirely without even a browse)!
We’ve been lucky enough to have been sent a couple of outfits from their new collection and Florence and Jimmy have done a superb job of modelling them for me to take some pictures.
I love the unusual details on PO.P clothes. The patterns are not your typical baby prints and are quirky and cool! They’re also a little bit retro and I think that’s where my fashion heart lies, in retro prints and old-fashioned clothing!
I love the orange in both their outfits and for summer they’re going to be simply perfect! Jimmy was sent clothes aged for 1-1 and a half years and for Florence age 3-4 years. They fit them now and I can see that they will fit them next year too. For Jimmy they may even do him for the year after that if he continues to be like Florence and fairly slight! Jimmy’s outfit actually fits Florence too would you believe!
I used my Nikon D3200 for the photographs in this post, which is the camera I am learning photography with. You can catch up with my picture taking journey under my page Picture Perfect!
I was not paid for this post but I was sent the two outfits from Polarn O. Pyret for the purpose of review.
