Yesterday the children and I were invited to a very special party before a very special screening to celebrate Postman Pat and his very special delivery service!
We went to the WORLD PREMIERE of the (not released until 23rd May) Postman Pat movie!
Us at the premiere!
Not only did we get to see the film nearly two weeks prior to its general release but we got to walk down the red carpet with the stars as we went into the theatre in Leicester Square, have fun in the foyer and auditorium prior to the screening and to top it all off we even went to a pre-premiere party!
Thrown by the people at Hamleys and in the store before it was even open to the public we had an amazing morning in the iconic Regent Street shop. The Postman Pat themed party meant the children got to sit in his van, watch the show, get crafty at the art table, eat a special Postman Part party lunch and even get to exclusively play with the Postman Pat toys!
Hamleys party fun pre premiere!
Character Options have a range of fun toys to go with the movie and Jimmy couldn’t believe his luck when he got to take the Pencaster Flyer and Greendale Station home with him on top of the amazing goodie bag they gave us which included Showbiz Pat. Showbiz Pat is a stand up toy who sings and dances, just as Pat does in the film when he enters a reality TV talent show! SO much fun and he kept us (and the other tube passengers on our train) entertained all the way home! The children had loads of fun playing with the toys at the party too; they’re brilliant and thoroughly encourage ‘small world play’ which I’m a massive fan of! Of course there’s a fair amount of vehicle action which keeps Jimmy VERY happy too and Florence loves anything with little figures she can make stories up around!
The party was hosted by two of the Hamleys rag dolls Sarah and Jodi and was wonderful fun! Apparently they host all sorts of parties including sleep-overs! Can you imagine! I’d LOVE to go to one of those!
The children LOVED sitting in Pat’s van at the party!
After the fun, games, toys and food it was time to get black cabs to Leicester Square and touch our toes on the red carpet! We sauntered down just behind Sarah Beeny and saw lots of stars also there to watch the film including Aldo Zilli and Jo Joyner (whose little girl was wearing the exact same coat from the Mothercare Little Bird range as Florence).
Florence and Jimmy having their Postman Pat red carpet moment with the little one belonging to Lilinha from Linlinha Angel’s Wolrd!
But that was nothing! The stars of the actual film were of course in attendance and Rupert Grint, Stephen Mangan and Ronan Keating were all there to party at the premiere!
Take a look at the wonderful day we had, stars we saw and take a glimpse at those awesome toys we got to play with!
The film was awesome! I loved Postman Pat when I was little and although it’s changed a bit (he now has a wife I never knew he had before) my children love the television show just as much as I did (I had an awesome Postman Pat board game which I must get my Mum to dig out from her loft)! It says something really, that he has stood the test of time so well and is still going so strongly that he has a big movie out! The film was inevitably going to be a big hit with us but I didn’t think I would enjoy it as an adult as much as I did. There’s lots of funny moments and small incidentals which will go right over the little ones heads but make it very entertaining for us grown ups! I LOVED Simon Cowbell (the nasty judge in a TV talent show Pat takes part in) and his catch phrase, ‘I know I’m the one, but are YOU the one’!
Some great characters with a fantastic script take the Postman Pat of old well and truly into the twenty first century without losing any of his charm! I love that because Postman Pat really is just meant to be charming and nice and show good morals. The film is exactly in keeping with that theme and really highlights it in fact! A ‘must see’ with little ones for sure and then I bet I know what will be on the Christmas lists of all the little fans!
Florence, Jimmy and all the other children at the party loved it!
What an awesome time we had! Thank you to UK Mum’s TV for inviting us! Watch their site all this week for new and exciting Postman Pat news!
