Yesterday we went back to an old favourite of ours, Willows Farm in St Albans. We go quite a bit and always have fun because whatever the weather there’s something to do!
I love how this farm makes like a chameleon and depending on the holiday it matches its stripes to completely transform for the occasion. At Christmas is becomes Santa’s Spectacular Grotto, for Easter they have an Eggstravaganza, there’s a Summer Spectacular, Potato Shindig, Spring Special and last but not least the February Frolics Lambing Event. Oh and right now there’s the Pumpkin Festival for Halloween and October half term!
We’ve been so many times before, the Christmas special is a favourite of ours as is Easter time but we have never been to the Pumpkin Festival before now. It seemed like the perfect opportunity for the beginning of our half term fun and we knew, even if it was cold, we would find plenty to do. As it turned out yesterday was gloriously sunny and we had a beautiful time doing all the fun things we love on the farm as well as picking our own pumpkin (to take home) at the pumpkin patch – an activity which is free for all children with your entry ticket.
We could have carved our pumpkins on the farm in a special tent with all the equipment and help we needed but we didn’t want to waste fun time at Willows so decided to put our pumpkins in the car ready to take to Gram’s for Halloween. We know that there isn’t enough time in one day to do everything at Willows so we wanted to crack on and get as much done as we could.
We played outside on the equipment and on the bouncy castle and slide (scene of burning bum-gate for me in the summer – never EVER go down a bouncy slide wearing a skirt without tights) and went on all the old-fashioned fair ground rides. We went on the Tristan The Tractor ride, fed the animals, petted the animals and panned for gold as well as fitting in an ice cream and picnic lunch.
Inside we had super fun in the massive soft play area where Jimmy refused to go in the part for little ones and ran of making friends with bigger boys who were very sweet and looked after him and Florence was in her element going down the giant drop slides and running around. I too spent a great deal of time running around the soft play area – well, when in Rome!
We had a brilliant day, take a look!
Sadly we didn’t get time to see the owls, any of the shows, play on the diggers or in the sand pit, take part in the Sheepstakes sheep racing, play in Captain Chicken’s Egg Dodge, Toddler Town or join in with some of the other Halloween fun! Seriously, a day out at Willows is jam packed and could always be more so if only there were more hours in the day!
We love a day out at Willows and the Pumpkin Festival is brilliant! ow all we have to do is carve them!
We were given complimentary tickets in return for an honest review.
