Rapunzel Costume – How To Make!

Rapunzel Costume – How To Make!

This year I went for ease, without having to buy much, and yet still with an element of craft – I like to put a bit of effort in with the craft direction, as while it might not float everyone’s boat, it’s a bit of me! Plus, one small crafty element means the overall look gifts lots of admiration and the feeling that a lot of energy went in when in actual fact… Very little did! This year Posie wanted to be Rapunzel, and Raffie chose to be Willy Wonka (like Daddy)!

Both outfits were super easy to put together – see how to make Raffie’s Willy Wonka outfit here!

Using things we already had:

A Rapunzel dress that used to be Florence’s, shoes which were handed down, and purple tights, along with a chameleon Little Live Pets that looked just like Pascal from the Disney version of Rapunzel, we combined that with a crafted plait for Posie’s hair! We made a big braid with a huge ball of lightly coloured wool by wrapping it around the table legs to get the length (as advised by a friend) and then we decorated it with flowers and butterflies bought on Amazon. You could actually make them from paper (just as you could Pascal the chameleon) but we went for ease and spent about £3 just as we did on Raffie’s outfit where we only bought the chocolate bar)!

Very easy, lots of fun and Posie loved having a big braid for the day – We read Rapunzel, the Brothers Grimm version the night before World Book Day, and don’t recommend that at all! Murder, assault, kidnapping, desperation, loneliness and torture just doesn’t come in as lovely as the Disney version!
