SEA LIFE London Aquarium – February Half Term 2019!
When we visited Shrek this half term we combined our visit with one next door to the SEA LIFE London Aquarium too. I mean why not? Tickets are cheaper on line and cheaper if you combine Merlin attractions and as they are literally at the same place it would seem silly to not do at least two of the attractions on the South Bank! I really do keep meaning to buy a Merlin Pass as there’s so much to do in the capital and that’s without even thinking about the theme parks dotted around the country!
We LOVE the Aquarium – we really like the ones in Norfolk (Great Yarmouth and Hunstanton) but there’s something very special about the one in London that just has the edge on all the others I think! Perhaps it’s the amazing shark tank which you walk over, under and almost through it feels or it could be the penguins who are simply wonderful… It could be a lot of things really but it’s certainly somewhere we always look forward to going back to!
This half term they have a fantastic trail on for the kids to find shark’s teeth dotted about the tanks and displays and fill in their treasure sheet as they go! My kids love a trail and never want to leave anywhre until it’s fully completed so this was right up their street!
From the 16th – 24th February 2019, half term week, the Sealife London Aquarium folk are inviting the kiddos to come face-to-fin with their sharks by helping Professor Finn find the missing sharks’ teeth to become a Jawsome Shark Ranger!
- Dive in and face our Jawsome trail challenge
- Peer into the shark-infested water where eager recruits will learn fun facts about these amazing creatures.
- Meet our resident sharks, Betty the Bowmouth guitarfish and Dean the Sand tiger shark after journeying through the ocean adventure.
- Crafty Rangers will also have the chance to get stuck into the activity zone; where you can create your very own Play-Doh shark teeth models and play till your heart’s content.
The event is included with every ticket and makes it extra fun! We last visited for Halloween and they had a similar offering tailored to the season!
The Aquarium on a school holiday is busy, I can’t lie to you, and there are some queues to get in which can be frustrating but the staff move people inside so efficiently that it’s hard not to be impressed with how they deal with such volumes and honestly once inside it doesn’t feel thronging or rushed at all. The queue at the beginning is as stressful as it gets and the tone changes immediately once inside. Florence and Jimmy enjoyed all the things they do usually like dippling into the rock pool (Florence introduced Raffie to this and he was mesmerised not wanting to leave) and popping inside all the viewing holes while the baby just enjoyed the freedom and sensory experience of seeing all the fish – especially the beautifully coloured jelly fish which must have been like being at sensory play for him!
Would we recommend going? Well yes absolutely and we will be back I’m sure – perhaps next time we will have to do the London Eye as well – it was such a clear day that we were quite jealous of all the people going around as we ate our picnic in the sunshine on the Southbank!
