When my cousins and I were little my Grandmother used to push us around in an old Silver Cross classic pram. I guess it was the one she’d used for her children, my Father and his siblings, or perhaps she picked it up in an auction? Either way, it was years old but we all loved it. We’d all climb in it and be pushed around together. Three of us in one pram probably! If she still had it now it’d probably be worth a fortune and be a collector’s item!
It was very shabby by the time we used to go round in it but somehow it was still beautiful and I remember loving it! I’ve loved prams and buggies from a really young age and this was probably one of the first ones I remember so might very well be to blame for my penchant! Those old prams were just so beautiful though and these days, although they’re pricey be they old or new, they still look just as classy as they ever did!
My best friend Eve had a toy one! I didn’t know her until we were 14 years old so never played with it yet still, over the years and even now, we marvel over the beauty of it! I SO want Florence to have one too, she would LOVE it! I’d love a real one myself truth be told… I always go and take a look at the one on display in the museum of childhood when we visit, it is like a piece of art work! I can just picture me with one now, walking through the countryside with both my children in it! I’d keep it at my Mum’s in Norfolk and use it for long walks… Oh they are just gorgeous! Can’t imagine one on the tube but they are truly stunning aren’t they! Lily Allen has one so I guess they’re not impossible in London though!
Silver Cross, although still making their iconic prams, have moved with the times and now make all sorts of pram systems, pushchairs and car seats; modern and up to date ones! They even make furniture and toys amongst other things! Absolutely ages ago I saw a sit on rocking boat that they don’t seem to sell anymore but even though he had just been born I knew I wanted it for Jimmy’s first birthday and it’s been sitting in my loft waiting for May! I’ve just been having a look at their new toys and I love the classic wooden push along baby walker with wooden bricks and Florence would adore their Tea For Two Fabric Tea Set! Classic toys, just up my street like with their classic pram… And that’s the thing they seem to do well. Even though they have new ranges which fit with the times and are completely modern, they bring a classic old-fashioned feel with them which is, for my taste, perfect!
Today I’m off to the launch of two new products they are bringing out, the Wayfarer Combination Pushchair and the Simplicity Car Seat! How exciting! I’m super interested to see the new car seat as I myself am after a new one so I wonder if it’ll be the one for me? I wonder will it be rear facing or forward and for what ages? And the combination pushchair? What will that be like? Will it take inspiration from their classics or be a totally new and modern design… Well, I’ll be able to tell you later on won’t I! We’re off to The Ivy for breakfast, Jimmy and me, to find out all about them and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve never been to The Ivy before either so that’s pretty exciting too! My friend Sarah said I should look out for celebrities hanging about from the night before! Ha!
I’ll report back later with my findings and The Ivy and Silver Cross, here we come!
I guess we’d better get out of our jammies and dressed first!
