SKATE At Somerset House – 2019!
We’ve not been to the opening of SKATE at Somerset House for the past couple of years and we’ve really missed it. Raffie being born a couple of weeks before put us out for 2017 and then last year we were otherwise engaged but the children have never let me forget it – so this year the opening press event went into the diary as soon as the invitation arrived and today was the day we got to go back and enjoy, once more, the delights of the ice skating rink at one of London’s most beautiful venues!
It was also the first time we introduced Raffie to the ice and though I wouldn’t say he was keen on the actual activity (from wearing the shoes to the actual skating) he loved being a spectator and ADORED the apres skate of hot chocolate with the best of us!
And as for the rest of us? We had a blast, as always. Loved the skating and helpful staff, the children are so well catered for with little polar bears to hold and a dedicated children’s area, the lodge for hot chocolate and treats was inviting and warm and frankly I can’t think of a better place for families to go and skate. They cater for everyone and also two dedicated wheelchair sessions throughout the season but wheelchair users are welcome to skate on any session.
I’ll leave the words and let you see for yourself with my video – It’s a fabulously festive way to kick off the season to be jolly and as ever, for 2019 we recommend it highly for a visit!
And here’s some of my fave pictures from our time on the ice!
